From uber grab kind of company I believe apart from it being a profit entity they do have a social mission: to change and better lives of the society with their business model at the end of the day. We can also call them social enterprise. So there is net benefit to society for their presence even though the rest of the car drivers who are part of the Coe game would choose to come in to subsidize the market. Hence I think the gahment would not interfere them and would continue to have them in this sphere of Coe.

Actually people want economy to crash, and COE to be cheap. But the better thing would be for public transport to improve vastly and to be near seamless.

U step out of the house, board a vehicle near your door step, travel smoothly on a non congested road, step off the vehicle directly at your destination. This would be better than driving.

Unlikely to happen soon, now that the two dozens China made trains that SMRT ordered have developed cracks and will be sent back to the manufacturer in China. Repairs will be completed in three years, by 2019
