Opel Astra 2016

Have been following this thread closely as the Astra being one of my consideration for my next car... esp with the rave feedback her from bro Tianmo  [laugh]

I've went down to see the car once back in Dec last year... didn't asked too many questions & test drive the car though as back then i'm still in the casual look-see-look-see mood since my current ride has more than 2 yrs to go.

Fast forward now... with the new VES kicking in from next year & the COE still being very resilient in the 50k range for the past months... i'm think it may be time to step up my search.

Need advice on the following:

- Does the current model come with the LED Matrix headlight or this is an optional top up?

- Read from the Opel website that the front driver seat is the AGR (some premium ergonomic seat) seat... does the car here in SG comes with it?

- Does it come with the auto parking; park assist?

- If i remembered correctly, the car don't come with GPS navigation.. need to go via Apple Carplay or Android Auto.. that means if we drive to m'sia, we need to still use separate GPS if we don't have the m'sia sim card in our phone.

- Reverse parking camera comes as standard?

Many thanks in advance...

Will most likely go down to the Car Expo this weekend to see if any great deal on offer.

Hello Friends, I'm new to this Forum.

I have ordered the Astra 1.4ST on Nov 2016, with Intellilux, AGR seat, Auto / Asist parking...full options, since my existing car will be expiring on 12 Jun this year, SE said those option needs to be assembled in England, delivery date will be around end of Apr/May.

When I check with the SE early April, he said the car is now under LTA inspection.  Yesterday I whatsapp him again he said the car still stuck in LTA queuing for inspection.

Does anyone have this experience? Please advise, thanks.

Yeah, agreed that the matrix led is not a necessity in our roads here... in fact fog lights are hardly required as well unless in super heavy downpour & if you drive up to Genting. But indeed they greatly enhanced the visual aspect of the car.

The park assist may come in handy for parallel park in tight spaces... esp if i decide to go for the wagon as it'll be much longer than my current hatchback.

Indeed I'm attracted to the wagon also mainly due to this auto tailgate    Is a very useful feature when both your hands are full with groceries.

However wifey is astound why i'm looking at a wagon as we're just a small family of 3 & we've been doing fine with the boot space on our small hatchback now  [laugh]  [laugh] ...

Apart from the size of the wagon which may be a bit more challenging in term of parallel parking.. does the bigger interior size result in the sound quality being more muffled compared against a more compact interior in a 5 door hatch?

Astras NVH level is not bad. Most of my passengers do appreciate the quieter cabin. Suspension also on the comfortable end. Only stock tire noise more intrusive on rough roads but feels like sailing in calm sea on smooth roads. Calms my senses.

Coming from driving a wagon, I actually  find the boot space of the Astra HB very decent, in fact there are more space than other HB in its class. Interior space is the same in both the wagon and the HB, except the slightly longer boot, so not really much different.

Sound quality? I could not hear the signal when I play music. until the alert came on.  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

Do agreed the Astra HB boot space is well sufficient for my family needs... like i said, the reason if i do go for the wagon is just because of the auto tailgate & perhaps another excuse is that the extra boot space can more easily load a couple of bicycles (foldies)... which i didn't have now but may buy them in the future since cycling is getting more popular nowadays with more cycling path along the park connectors [laugh]  [laugh]

I actually saw someone posted the cars @ expo promotion on opel owners Singapore group yesterday but I can't find the picture anymore. If I don't forget, I remember seeing the below,

1) 1.0 hb at $95,888

2) add $5k for matrix led

3) discount up to $5,888

4) free watch, I can't remember the brand.

quite a good promo I think.

and I have thoroughly enjoyed driving my 1.0 hb so far.

I remember the $5k is not just for the adaptive matrix LED system... but a whole technology package that includes other ergonomic and comfort features/functions.

5k is to add intellilux led headlight. 9highly recommended)

5k is to add autopark+AGR (driver) seat - discontinued .

guess what, if you add this and that, might as well get insignia with AGR seat, bi-xenon, better HU, more safety feature, 1.6T engine and multilink rear suspension. 1k more per year relative to tourer due to its higher parf.

But insignia is phasing out as new 2017 model is coming in.
