How's the new Easytronic gearbox? Heard that the previous generation of Easytronic is not smooth when shifting unless you can anticipate the upshifts and release the accelerator slightly just before it shifts up or use manual mode.

it's okie though there's a slight lag somewhat like the half-clutch feel in a manual drive.... other than that it's rather smooth...

go test drive the car to see if you can accept or not..... generally I think it's okie and definitely not as bad as the previous generations .....

just booked a 1.4L today.....the drive of the 1.4L is awesome and for the price, it comes with a lot of features which many cars doesn't have...

the 1.0l is great for a normal city drive but somehow u will feel something is lacking after u test drive the 1.4L....

Hi

I am new to this car (brand in fact) and do not have time to visit the showroom. At the moment i am considering a Mazda 3 but found the rear space a bit cramp and may go for Honda Civic instead .. pending test drive

I checked the feature on Opel website but seems like mostly are optional item, eg egonomic seat, infotainment, park assist etc. Appreciate if you can share what are the features we can get from 1.4L ?

Astra rear space is quite similar to mazda 3. So if mazda 3 is cramp to you then astra would be cramp too. Can check sgcarmart car details for the features too many to list.

Ergonomic seats. Matrix LED. Electric seats. Are not standard.

1.0L and 1.4L specs are the same, except for the engine and gearbox.

http://www.opel.com.sg/vehicles/opel-range/cars/astra-hatchback-new/models-specification.html

Some of the specs indicated in the above link under "Innovation Trim", but are not available here are:

  • Paddle Shifters
  • Electric and Memory seat for Driver
  • Electric and Memory seat for Passenger
  • Rear aircon
  • Two-rear USB charging points

Besides that, no LED Matrix lights, no massage and ventilation seats.

Everything else should be available.

Correct me if i am wrong.  [laugh]

The Opel showroom and Kah Motors at Ubi is just next to each other. Do pop by and try out the Astra when the new Civic is officially out. In fact, that is what I'm planning to do when both Civic and Astra Tourer 1.4 are available for test drive at the same time.

Nothing beats having a go in the actual car than to read a thousand brochures and website :XD:

For a hatchback, i would say the legroom for Astra 2016 is very spacious among its peers (VW Golf).

Features like lane assist, front collision alert, park assist, traction control, attire pressure monitoring system, auto start stop comes as standard.

In terms of reliability and affordability of service and parts, is it going to be a nightmare like some of the other continental cars?

3years free servicing (6x or every 10k km)

4th & 5th year servicing $800

It's already publish in their brochure

So far experience fr ownself and friends is that for mid range conti like this, Citroen should be the leader for pricey maintenance and repairs.

Opel used to be ex, but there's a few workshop outside which are gd with Opel.

How's the new Easytronic gearbox? Heard that the previous generation of Easytronic is not smooth when shifting unless you can anticipate the upshifts and release the accelerator slightly just before it shifts up or use manual mode.

This 3rd generation easy tonic so far is the smoothest among all the generation. U will feel a slight gear change, it can be overcome. My SE has shown me how.

If u like a manual car feel, the 1.0 is pretty torquey and fun to drive.

I choose the 1.4 in the end as I feels that nothing beats the feel of having more power in hand and also I'm just used to a 5-6speed auto.

Go test drive and see if u can accept how it feels cos everyone defination of acceptance is very different & subjective!!

I don't quite understand the 4 and 5 year servicing offer. Is it you get the package and they cap the servicing at $800 each year or you pay $800 and they will cover all the servicing?
