Haha. I tot might as well do it nicely since I intend to drive this car for another 3 more years before changing to a A-class. Or maybe by then A4. 2nd hand of cos.

Not too sure about that man. But if you see the picture of the original plastic sheet, I doubt it is very waterproof also. The glue will harden and crack under my local weather.

 

Yea well I guess the glue will eventually harden after a long period of exposure. I think the vapour barrier is there for a reason think best to replace it rather than remove it all together. 

 

But from the looks of it is I guess one can't expect much from the price we paid for haha

But given the choice and depreciation of fairly new used unit, I would just buy new.

For those who are curious about what is causing the door rattling sound. It is because of this water proofing plastic sheet behind our door panel.

You can download the attached video to see how the plastic sheet cause the sound. Apologies for the low res as I am limited by file size upload. In real life, the sound is even louder.

So we removed the plastic sheet completely and replace with 3 layers of sound proofing materials for all 4 doors. Now there is not a single whisper of door rattling sound. I can't rmb exactly how much it cost. But I rmb it cost about $60 or $80/layer/door. But I think it is money well spent. Cos even AG's technician tell me my car is very very quiet.

Yeah. A lot of Audio shops do sound proofing.

But anyway I did mine at Autoimage Enterprise. I have been going there for the past 10 years.

Yeah. Apparently I am not the only Opel Astra K that went to him with the same door rattling sound.

 

But he still will test drive with you to confirm the location of the rattle and advise you accordingly. Hope this helps.

I remembered the guy from AG Service Centre telling me that all continental cars (including opel) suffered from flexing noise especially when going up or down or turning in MSCP... He also say that noise is normal and nothing the SC can do about it....

 

Oh well... after reading online and trying out different solutions... finally managed to find one solution that works for me.... try applying the Gummi Pflege Stift on your all door rubber seals for couple of weeks.... it should get rid of the flexing noise... 

 

For the another door rattle noise I encountered... I found that if I wind down my passenger side window slightly, the noise is gone... just wonder if something loose in the door...

Transfered old speakers, Amp and a Sub from old car. After done sounds shioks.

Im driving the Astra sports tourer. No door rattling issue. But also go do door sound proofing haha...

 

Do u notice after that the resverse sensor beep like gets louder !!

Yeah it didn't work for me too :(

Service offered me to open the door to find source of that rattling sound. But as far as I understand it won't help unless they change that parts with isolation material.

It is very sad that Opel has this situation on brand new cars. I had Astra J before this and I was quite happy with that car. But Astra K seems troublesome.

Well, I still got the rattle noise, even driving on smooth road.

 

But I think I found some trace about it. I'll post an update about it.
