i am bringing this up so that other potential buyers are aware there is such an issue and can make an informed decision. when i just got the new car there isnt such a noise. after less than a month of driving, the noise came and i have been to AG multiple times to get this resolve and till now its not successful and AG claim its normal. mine is not the only 1.4 AT car with such issue

a quick googling shows gearbox bearings are gone. the simplest way would be to replace a new gearbox or get the bearings replaced.

if AG doesn't want to do anything, the only option for u is to drive till it breaks. they can't possibly deny nothing is wrong then.

Similar experience here. Problem surfaced abt 1 month of driving. AG has claimed that it does not help by changing gearbox etc. But I am not buying to that.

I feel the best bet may be to get Opel AG to respond to the problem....unless AD bought the cars w/o factory warranty...in which case, they may be more reluctant to do so at their own cost (in stead of warranty claim from factory.

AG responded to all the 1.4 that has this issue. by saying its normal . and wont change any parts. this issue has been ongoing for over one year plus. thats why i hope potential buyers can be aware there is such issue. and not be like us... bought the car and slapped with this issue. in the cases of asking the SE if there is such issues... better to record the conversation... coz SE is aware there is such issue and if they say no issue... then its misrepresentation

It is very frustrating that they always say is normal but have no idea what caused the sound. Anyone with knowledge of Lemon Law can share if in such a situation can invoke it and demand them the answers?

Asin GB is the one used? The same one used in Chevy cruze?

i think it's Getrag. best way is write direct to opel or dig some overseas forum threads.

other than gearshifting sounds, nothing else should be heard or it can be an indication of something wearing out. last resort, drive and hope yr gb breaks. then they really have to do something.

by right it fall under lemon law..however u need to bring litigation against AG. AG so far cannot produce an official statement stating its normal... and also AG didn't make this aware to all buyers ...
