is the rattle sound only audible when radio is off?

or am I having such low expectation due to my previous cars being kia rio, latio, legacy.

My previous car is a Avante and driven for 7 good years since new.... super fuel saving... No rattles until the 7th year where the passenger door started to have rattles... no break down or major repair... except one minor repair when the steering wheel got noise when turning at the 5th year due to some to rubber mounting worn off...  of course, no electronics problem as Avante is just a plain day-day car without much fancy features...

Having this new ASTRA 1.4T HB for more half a year, initially have high expectation since not only it is German engineered, but also comes with newer and advanced technology..  Disappointment started to kick in after a few weeks...  rattle noises started and is audible even with radio is on... Electronics (auto headlight... auto wipers... radio) started to have weird behaviors and sometimes not functioning.. interior built is not up to expectation... noise when depress and release accelerator... to make things worst... incompetent AG workshop... However, something to compensate all these problems... Astra K 1.4T HB is cheap.. affordable.. low loan interest rate and is a powerful ride with fast acceleration to change lane and overtake if you choose the turbo version...

I would advise new buyer to lower their expectation to avoid disappointment... that's my personal view...

Yea electronics wise the auto headlights sometimes tend to have weird sensing. But overall till ok. What noise you referring to when depress and release accelerator? Something like a gear disengaging?

When you step on the accelerator pedal and release.. you will hear a "tock" "tock" sound...

Might be something called "Neutral Idle". This means when the vehicle coming to a stop, in gear, brake pedal pressed, the box automatically shifts to a neutral state. It shifts back into gear as the brake pedal is released. Suppose to improve fuel economy.

Notice when u released your accelerator and let the car roll, the digital display on the dashboard there is this page showing real time fuel consumption, the reading drops to zero. This might be the transmission shifting to neutral to save on fuel. Just my guess.

not sure what is the problem... some 1.4T HB owners are experiencing this problem... while some don't experience that..  So we are suspecting some problem with our gearbox...

Mine was around 2 hours, depending on their workload.

Wah so good ah!

Anyway, all this cars no match for the 1.4 Turbo. I buy for the performance, NCAP safety and other features that those cars don't have.

So all potential buyers reading this thread can go for those.

Like I said, the rattling sound in mine is hardly noticeable except on very bumpy roads and it's only for the rear door near the speaker area. In fact, I hardly hear it until my son highlighted it to me. I had to strain my ears with the radio off to listen carefully when I drove on the bumpy road.

Subaru xt?

Subaru xt?

Last I know the price for FXT is 131k?? Thats hardly a fair comparison besides FXT is a totally different class of vehicle.

There are certainly better cars than the Astra no doubt. But at least make a sensible comparison.

Previously drove a 1.8H Astra and there is no issue with the 4-speed auto gear box.

Now driving the Cruze 1.4T using the 6-speed auto and it shifted very smoothly. Its all depends on your luck and may get a lemon car.

Cruze 1.4T will have a HB probably next year. Its a very handsome HB with better power and torque.

That is the right way to drive a MTA transmission. Auto Germany is bad at selling the 1.0, without proper introduction everyone will feel that it is a lousy car, but in reality it can be enjoyable if you are driving in manual and drop it to auto only in jams or cruising.

If you are drive in manual, you should be able to do lane change anytime confidently and should also be able overtake many cars under 2 litre, especially on a climb.

Yeah i test drove in manual and is fun. However, left hand side signal abit troublesome when changing lane. As ur left hand is in gearstick.

For jam no need auto, if low speed shld be gear 1-2 also ok
