Anyone drove the ST version? How is it?

I collected my ST after Christmas, is a great car to drive. As many had said they do not regret getting the car. I’m travelleing east to West everyday clicking approx.120km per day by SLE KJE And PIE.... it clocks 750-800km and left with 1/8 tank. With occasional step down on the accelerator. It has short range power for over taking batter than a 1.6l car. As the car is still new, I’m not sure about the reliability but till now it is working fine for me.

update on the year long "steering issue"

took back my astra yesterday. went for a test drive and it goes almost dead straight; no more clunking sounds.

tested around Ubi, then 30km home, climb up MSCP, today went down, and to work. no clunks. the tire howling noise that were prominent after steering rack replacement is gone too (or at least much more subdued).

now trying to get used to its composed and refined nature on the road. roadholding feel is there; will try a little more sporty on the weekends which never tried before due to pulling issues.

the car drives 95% perfect now. last 5% will continue to monitor as its minor still; it takes alot of effort to explain for both parties to understand whats going on.

previously felt understeer mostly turning right. now it feels ok but have to test on higher speeds.

whatever was replaced was verbal, no report given.

so verbally it was -

1) brake pads

2) rotate and balancing of tires

so officially, case closed, AG did fix my problem although it took some time.

see u on the roads if u see a fast astra , pls wave :D

slight possibility that the tyres already corrected to the old steering rack config and hence only way is to rotate the tires.

After replacement, sent in for servicing which means rotation as well.

May be this time round they cross rotate.

Still monitoring. A weak link still around.

Just went for my 10k servicing this morning.

Got a pleasant surprise when I'm offered a cab voucher for a free one-way taxi.

Then came another surprise when I collected my car where the reception passed me a complementary box of pineapple tart for CNY.

AG trying to improve customer experience  [laugh]  :a-m1212:

Just curious, does yr ride also have the 'tok'sound problem during acceleration at low speed as reported by some 1.4T owners? If so, is this problem also resolved by AG in your recent visit? Btw the 'tok' sound in my 1.4T is getting louder and more frequent lately. So really hope AG has found cause/fix for this problem.

are u referring to the tuck sound from gearbox?

Yes,but I'm not100% sure the sound is coming from the gearbox. It usually happens during acceleration at low speed (20-50km/hr) when the accelerator is pressed following the release of brake.

yes its there. all Astra 1.4 has this tuck sound. those who said theirs dont have, went to test drive. have.

so far discussion with AG is that it appear to not be a defect. and its not a "gearbox problem". they claimed to have changed GB before. personal experience is not GB fault, but the mechanical components involved in engaging/disengaging the engine.

to overcome tuck sound u gotta adapt to the GB instead of the other way round. of course i prefer not to have the sound, but having a proper right foot it is easy to reduce gearbox engage/disengage.

btw the GB is too smart  and has to comply to emmission regulations so yeah.

drove a cruze 1.4 turbo while my car was sent for repair. similar engine as the older Astra J (and central console too). no tuck sound, no nothing. but it doesnt have start stop either.

if interested to find out more, can PM me ur number.

AD is offering MY 2017 at $89,888 at VES zero, similar price to Dec 2017 when the same car was accorded CEVS rebate of $10,000.  AD is clearing 2017 stock with 10k less margin.

Great product at a great price

Hope their AD steps up. A real rival to the Asian cars especially with that feature set. Full suite of safety features compared to others only offering a token two airbags.

But the tuk sound is not on the 1.0T. So the price to you still worth it?
