The noise that bothers me the most is the tyre noise, esp on the expressway!  Anyone else finds their tyres noisy?   :D

Yes, the tyre noise at high speed with rough road is quite loud.

Dont know whether is it the tyre or the insulation. On smooth road it is pretty quiet though.

Yup, the tyres are noisy, but grip is decent.

The problem is there is no insulation To the wheel arch. My previous car had it and it was much quiter.

Yup, very decent for now. Read the UK forums and they fedback that their Bridgestones Turanzas are noisy as well so could be a combination of both factors. Guess gotta wait till they wear out first!

Did you guys notice there is a big styrofoam at the back of the front grills?

Yup is there to supposedly direct airflow to specific areas for cooling I think.

Mine is 1.0 ST. Creaking sound is obviously from the doors, especially when moving on a rougher road. Air con high pitch sound also have but think didn't notice it after speeding up. Another one is whenever I turn the steering, there is a noticeable high pitch sound from steering. Not sure all these are common or normal or not...but definitely didn't happen when driving test drive car...damn I bought a lemon car!?

Don't know want to wait until 1k then send in for checking or send in AG tomorrow...but I reckon I will find more flaws before 1k service...

High pitch noise might be the noise from the electric steering motor? It can be bit loud at times. But best is let AG check if you think is abnormal.

Yes, I did notice when the car was delivered to me.

I think it is meant to direct air to specific areas in the engine compartment. Do not remove it unless you know what you are doing.

Some years back, I heard from my mechanic that this Japanese brand 1.5 L car that owner wants more air so he cut a lot of holes at the front black plastic near the bonnet - Yes, more air came in but during a heavy rain and he was travelling above 70 km/h, rainwater also went into the air intake and engine stalled!

I also notice that the OMV is lower for later batches of Astras- Not sure if it is because of the exchange rate or some parts are "missing" to keep OMV low..... Just my guess...

My car was fitted with Michelin Primacy 3 and "Made In Germany" stated on the sidewall. Noise level acceptable.

Based on the "defects" that some of you are posting now, it seems that the later batches are having QC problems - I think you should e-mail the GM or Managing Director of AG to highlight this. Better still e-mail them with video clips whilst driving to prove to them all these weird "sounds" - Ask them this: "If test drive car got no sound, how come my car got sound?"

Cheers everyone!

I was looking at the 1.4T HB in early December and it was $20.5K.. This was informed by the SE and I also saw the onemotoring website to confirm it.

I did not commit to buy then as I was just looking around.

Fast Forward to late January this year when I booked and got the car in February, the OMV was only $19.7K. I did not bother to question the SE as they will all probably say that it's the exchange rate.

I think the OMV for the 1.4T HB is even lower now. Can anyone confirm this?
