2nd Generation Peugeot 3008

Hi, anyone here experience this problem? 2 years old 3008 clutch worn and need to be replaced. Warranty only for first 20Km. Quoted $1,700.

Although the jerking was first detected long ago, servicing agent claims it is like that and due to gear box. Now then say it is worn clutch.

How to fight case or you have experience please share.

Have decided against putting an early booking fee to consider this piece of beautiful SUV. Hearing horror stories 1st hand from existing Pug owners here have really put me off - no disrespect to the brand, but the local agent here may need more than just accountability to give proper aftersales servicing of customers.

Eventually their 3yrs/100k warranty just doesn't cut it - no matter how attractive the new 3008 is at the moment. Sigh.

Hey bro Laojiao, not sure where you heard the horror stories from but you should pop over to the Peugeot 308SW thread and read the reviews there. Since the launch of the 'Car of the Year 2014' Peugeot 308, there seems to be much lesser complaints with Peugeot newer range of cars (touch wood). With the best engine of the year 2015/2016 and match with a very reliable Japanese gearbox, I think that should put many mind at ease. And if I am not wrong, 3008 also just won the European Car of the Year 2017.

As for AF, the local agent, so far my encounter with them have been pretty pleasant and satisfactory.

Are you saying that transmission warranty is only 20k, it doesn't follow the standard 3 yrs 60k or 100k warranty?

According to AD, clutch is a wear and tear item. So only warranty for 20k.However,they have since agreed to replace it FOC but waiting for part. So, frankly, also dont know if really it is clutch or what.

Thanks .. well, only time will tell on whether AF has improved since. Really hope so for the Pug's new models' sake.

Horror stories:

1. Bro-in-law who owns 5008 since 2011

2. Ex-colleague who owns 3008 since 2013

3. Pug FB forum (https://www.facebook.com/groups/PeugeotSingapore/)

So in similar platform, i'd rather compare the New 3008 to the above although they are built differently. Yes, they are Car of the Year in their own right ... that's not the debate here - the debate is down right to their reliability and the most crucial part of AF's after-sales support.

As I said earlier, the new 3008 is damn sexy ... but after careful considerations especially on AF's after-sales, i've taken the cautious approach of avoiding Pugs for now. Hopefully next time if they do improve their after-sales ... and their warranty/servicing scheme to match most other conti makes.

Cheers!

Peugeot is common in Croatia when i went there recently. VW is their Toyota there. And any Jap or Korean are our Conti car here hehe

I dont believe Peugeot car are built not to last or cannot take our weather. Their summer is much hotter except humidity I dont think most country can much ours haha

I think it is more the standard of our mechanic here. no economy of scale, so trained staff hard to find. one day the situation maybe different

Thanks laojiao...for the info.

New 3008 will be using the new engine 1.2 which is the same as the 308... so reliability of this engine is not really proven, right?

No worries - yeap, they're suppose to be more frugal on the fuel and be able to produce higher hp/torque based on the new powerplant.

Yes, although not proven over the long run - I do think Pug is improving over the years.

JD Power's UK Dependability study in 2016 (although this is UK data - so just take it with a pinch of salt), has actually shown Pug improved its position in terms of car problems. Just as recent as 4-5yrs ago, it was languishing at the bottom half of the table ... interesting to note that many luxury brands are at the bottom half.  :a-SOS:  If anyone care to read the through the reports - not that the luxury brands are not 'dependable' ... many of the common issues faced were their adoption of new/advance technologies into the cars. Having said that ... not an excuse lah ... but if anyone interested - can read for your bedtime reading: http://www.jdpower.com/press-releases/jd-power-2016-uk-vehicle-dependability-study.

Personally - the local dealer's aftersales support is much to be desired for after much consideration. If i am the lucky few that got what tlt3668 deserved, all the better. But at this moment, its just too high a gamble for me to take - especially the crazy high prices we pay for our rides.

Probably in the near future  [nod]  ... i might just come back to Pug ... maybe for the new 5008!  :=B:

In the meantime ... who's Skoda's agent here??  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]
