Adrianli Hypersonic August 4, 2017 Share August 4, 2017 Need some advice on what to do. 1st June, was alighting passenger at a mall at novena area. Pickup/drop off point got 3 lanes. I drove to the centre lane to alight my passenger since there was a taxi queue on the left ( still a designated drop off point) Left rear passenger opened the door and hit an uber eats cyclist, and then the cyclist fell and broke the the side mirror of the taxi. I got out the car and checked if anybody was injured, lucky no body was. Taxi uncle was then asking the cyclist to pay for the damages. He didn't not ask me for my NRIC or any particulars and didn't even talked to me, but he took a photo when I was about to drive off. So I drove of thinking that it wasn't my fault. Subsequently, called grab to report the incident and they say it should not be an issue, and if the taxi uncle were to report me, Grab say that they will inform me. But I have yet to receive any call after 1.5 months. Now my rental company called me and told me that the taxi uncle wanna claim against me and it has become a police case. Who's fault isit? And how should I deal with this ): There will be some percentage to ur liability. Cos your car created the accident. Try to private settle with the taxi driver. A side mirror does not cost much. ↡ Advertisement

Vratenza Supersonic August 7, 2017 Share August 7, 2017 (edited) Your responsibility as a Taxi/PHV driver is to ensure that the location you dropped off the passenger is safe. A responsible driver will tell the passengers to wait, check the rear view and wing mirrors for potential dangers (pesky motorcyclist or bicycles), before giving the green light for the passengers to open the door. The Uber Eats rider is an idiot for trying to squeeze between vehicles at commonly understood drop off points. He got his just desserts. You are lucky your passenger was not injured in the incident. Ender Hypersonic July 17, 2018 Share July 17, 2018 I don't even know if it's an accident or just plain self inflicted stupidity? The self preservation instinct is lost once a cyclist mount his bike. http://www.wbay.com/content/news/Jaw-dropping-video-cyclist-falls-into-Menasha-bridge-opening-488316741.html MENASHA, Wis. (WBAY) - Video shows a heart-stopping close call for a bicyclist who fell through a gap in a Menasha bridge--and the people who came to the woman's rescue. It happened July 4 after the fireworks in Menasha. Action 2 News just received the video from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. At about 10:30 p.m., the video shows warning gates descend to stop traffic from driving on the Racine Street Bridge. The bridge was rising to the open position to let boat traffic pass. The bicyclist drives through the space between the warning gates and in an instant disappears into a gap. A little over a minute passes before people realize what happened and rush to her rescue. One person pulls the woman and her bike from the gap while another appears to be on the phone to officials. More people rush over to help. The bridge operator was alerted to the incident and kept the span open until the area was clear. Police say the 37-year-old Menasha woman was taken to a Neenah hospital and treated for facial injuries.
