Mkl22 Supersonic January 11, 2018 Share January 11, 2018 Its Milan Auto. In its heydays of late 80s and early 90s, they were selling Alfa 33 and 75 by the shiploads. The A33 1.7 Green Cloverleaf at $63K and A75 1.8/2.0 Twin Spark (can't remember the prices) were huge sellers due to the fixed $29K PARF policy in those days. I just loved the looks of the 164 then. and many scrapped with the 29k PARF. only mercedes was deemed worthy to continue after 10years. ↡ Advertisement

Toeknee_33 Turbocharged January 11, 2018 Share January 11, 2018 and many scrapped with the 29k PARF. only mercedes was deemed worthy to continue after 10years. I remember many of the breed were scrapped well before their 10th year. By late 1990s most have disappeared. Given their woeful build quality and reliability at that time, its understandable. Drove my mechanic's 3.0 Alfa 164 . Creamy engine. still cannot forget the experience up till today. Wondering where is Alvin now. He used to own the workshop in Ubi specializing in alfas.
Koster 4th Gear January 11, 2018 Share January 11, 2018 The Alfa 33 1.7IE was the most engaging car I have driven so far. Need high rev to engage 2nd gear and the steering was heavy. Plus the roar of the boxer engine. Really enjoyed the drive then

Everything else may fall apart in an Alfa of those days, but nothing beats the experience of hearing the creamy sonorous sound, feeling the vibes, and seeing the polished intake of that mellifluous V6! I had the opportunities to drive the A164 in both auto and manual (which had an awfully heavy clutch and no power steering!). Heaven for me, in those days. Heaven for me, in those days. irony is the sportivo boss drove his 75 for 2 coe lifespans. his was the 2L twinspark. while things fall apart, they can also be fixed quite easily. still owning and loving my 9 year GT
Bplakad 1st Gear January 12, 2018 Share January 12, 2018 I owned the alfa 33 which i bought 2nd hand. Nothing fell apart but some minor electrical problems which were easily solved. What i liked was the smoothness and sound of the twin carburettor when properly tuned by a good mechanic So heavenly that i wind down the windows everytime i enter a tunnel just to listen to the sound. Simplecar 4th Gear January 16, 2018 Share January 16, 2018 Had a 75 1.8. no twin spark. problematic car that loses coolant that even the AD could not solve. Brakes were like aircraft levers. Had poor braking distances. Still, i like the driving experience. Nearly booked a Guiletta. But was more worried servicing at Teban. Maybe one day i will drive another one.

D3badge 6th Gear January 16, 2018 Share January 16, 2018 Why cant they put veloce 2L turbo engine into 4C? 280 hp 400nm VS 4C 237hp 350nm. Because it will affect the weight distribution of 4C? How much heavier is the 2L engine? Just curious
