tenyawph Turbocharged May 5, 2016 Share May 5, 2016 A Mitsubishi car was found 'abandoned' in the basement car-park lot of a condo in Sengkang. The car has been unmoved from its present lot for a few weeks. The car does not belong to a resident of the condo, as there was no condo car disc pasted on the window screen. The car plate number is SGE2933K, and according to reply to a query using the LTA website, this car has been de-registered. The Road Tax disc shows "14 Sep 2015". Assuming that the car owner has paid another 6-months of road tax, but failed to replace the outdated road tax disc on the windscreen, the car will have reached its 10-year life span on 14 Mar 2016 (just about right for a SGE car plate number). According to LTA: Failing to submit disposal documents of a de-registered vehicleOffenders who fail to submit disposal documents as proof that the vehicle has been scrapped, exported, or sent to EPZ for storage, within a month from its de-registration may be prosecuted in Court, and face a maximum Court fine of $2,000 or 3 months' imprisonment. Similarly, first time offenders who are found keeping a de-registered vehicle may be prosecuted in Court, and face a maximum Court fine of $2,000 or 3 months' imprisonment. The deadline to sent the car for disposal is by 14 May (within 1 month), or the car owner runs foul of the law. It is hoped that the car owner does not forget about this. ↡ Advertisement

Looks very good to be disposed of. What a waste. Owner could have gone overseas? And left the car there.
SiLangKia Supersonic May 5, 2016 Share May 5, 2016 Could be sold to a dealer / exporter and awaiting export ? I/m pretty sure that there are some dealers who take in vehicles for scrap/ export and store it at private places (dunno whether legal cos iirc the vehicle needs to be at an authorised EPZ) , quite a few deregistered SGF-SGG plated nissans and toyotas at the Rail Mall carpark near my place, probably stored there temporarily awaiting export/scrap .... personally it doesn't really affect me la , it's only when its lunch/dinner time and I cannot find a lot there cos these cars are taking up space that i get erm mildly pekchek HAHA

Sdf4786k Twincharged May 6, 2016 Share May 6, 2016 Can physically push the cars out of the parking? Then let it block cars - end up kana towed away?? there is a stupid rule but true. Not sure if LTA wish to pursue. The 4 car tires cannot touch the ground and has to be that way once the road tax or the registration expires.
Kb27 Supersonic May 6, 2016 Share May 6, 2016 If someone removed the licence plate, all the stickers and file away the registration number, no one would know which car is it or who it belongs to. Nzy Twincharged May 6, 2016 Share May 6, 2016 Very wasteful. I think they also see the cost of exporting la. My previous car they never scrap it. They exported the car. A few of my family's cars also exported when de-registered. I guess if got demand for the cars overseas then they will export.

Benarsenal Turbocharged May 6, 2016 Share May 6, 2016 I pass by this Kranji scrapyard somewhat regularly, and they specialise in European cars. Damn sayang to see so many nice cars sitting there waiting to scrap. (There was an E60 BMW M5 sitting there for quite a while recently) ↡ Advertisement
