Hi

I've bought QQ1.2T 2016 registered, noted the car efficiency is between 7-8km/l within city limits (with ECO enabled)

If driven in the expressway the efficiency increased to 10-11km/l

How to improve the performance?

Also the car seems to be sluggish with very little pickup and really slows down on the ramp-up

Thanks

If you can check you mfg date and if before Jun 2016 and you find that eo level depletes noticably every 10k or even 5k km, there is good chance that this is the known bad piston rings causing eo leakage that will lead to non performing engine and high FC

Nevertheless, this 1.2L turbo qashqai is somewhat underpowered and best you can do is to fit pivot ethrottle at sp4/5 but FC will deteriorates further of course.

More imptly, watch out for power loss where rpm will get stuck at 1k rpm after moving off from idling 750 rpm which is quite scary imho but unfortunately not solved when my wife had hers.

Quite unfortunately as it is nice looking and offers great ride comfort for its class.

Cheers.

Hi,

it was said to be supplier issue of slightly undersized piston resolved after mentioned Jun 2016 ... shit happens like vw had years of issue with the dsg gearbox.

It is pre-facelift version and many affected .. eo drop will be the tell-tale sign.

Power loss also affected some, including facelift version but it was hearsay as I left the almost 300 strong Qashqai group then.

Cheers.

@qq12t Don't have any workshop in Sengkang/Punggol to recommend. I normally go to a workshop in Tampines Street 92 area. If you are interested, I can PM u the number.

BTW, forget to mention that you should not turn On the ECO mode as you will feel the car very much underpower.  I am not sure it will consume more petrol if you keep stepping on the gas but the ECO mode will limit the high rev of the engine. I am just guessing as I never turn on the ECO since this car is already underpower with its size and turning on ECO will make it worse. Try turning off the ECO and monitor your FC to see any difference.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the info. How about the 2.0 version pre facelift and facelift version? Do they have same issues like the 1.2T? I hope not. As QQ is also one of my shortlisted car to buy next yr when i want to change. I am looking at the 2.0 ones prefer the facelift version as design is more sleek than the pre facelift.

Hi,

All 2.0 versions has engine from Japan and not same as 1.2L turbo jointly by Nissan and Renault in UK .. not affected by this bad piston ring issue.

1.2l turbo facelift version also not affected .. only those prior to Jun 2016.

As also mentioned, looks nice and nice comfortable ride but frankly not the better ones on fc and internal size .. it is compact but still much more spacious than audi Q2 or A3 that I tried to get but these ride like an expensive jap cars since entry lower models.

Cheers.

Hi, great to hear that the FL 1.2T doesnt have this issue of the bad piston ring. Thanks much for the information. is there anything else that shall be looking out for? FL versions for 1.2T and 2.0 have any sensors issue?

Hi, sorry but FL versions I know very little cos left whatsapp group and no longer had the qashqai 🙏🙏

For me, the unresolved issue on isolated (thrice into 3rd year) powerloss of 1.2L turbo that reportedly also occurring in facelift version is not acceptable since safety related to me .. rpm 800 moved to 1000 rpm and stuck when you need to get into main road or crossing junction will be disastrous.

Cheers.

Hi, I am new to this chat. Need help going crazy with my 2016 1.2Tqq problem.

When making a slow near sharp left turn there is "kor kor" sound from the front left side of the wheel. I had changed, lower arm (both side), stabilizer bar (both side), drive shaft (both side), shock absorber with bearing and mounting (both aside) and wheel bearing (both side). Problem not fixed. I want to a few Mechanics still cannot detect the sound come from where as all parts are new and tight, No free paly. Also caliper and brake pads all checks - ok.

Any of you guys having the same problem in the past that can advise me. Thanks a million

@PaulMeng Agreed bro. Going to another workshop tomorrow hope can solve the problem. Thanks

@qq16

Hi qq16, just go back to tanchong instead of some outside workshop ... tanchong has seen all causes of noises that generic workshops cannot be more experienced and you had already tried some.

Not sure svc manager, Kwek, or technical mgr, CheeKeong, are still there and you may asked for them when there.  Please say Richard send his best regards if either are available.

Good luck and cheers.
