Hi Alex_t, the mileage was around 043250.  The workshop took 48 hrs to confirmed the defects, as I had already given them all the engine malfunction symptoms.

just wondering, is yours and Alex's qashqai the facelift model or the pre faceligft model?

Hi,

I'm driving a new 1.2 qashqai for 1.5 yrs. i noticed that the driver seat having some clicking sound whenever i go thru humps or turning left in recent months. I have sent my car to TC twice complaining this but it was not solved. Anyone having this issue here?

Thanks!

Hi all,

i just took over an used 2016 1.2 Qashqai. Car is working well other than:
1. Metallic clicking noise from under driver's chair when going over humps and cornering

2. Steering wheel creaking when turning, and jerking when doing full lock

I went back to Tan Chong motors since the car is still under warranty, they checked and after 1 day of down time, they said they replaced the steering pinion and also tighten some bolts under my chair.

However, the issues did not improved when I collected my car ystd.

Thus, is there any DIY gurus that can recommend any DIY solutions? I was thinking of spraying WD40 wildly on the underside of the driver's seat but maybe that wont be helpful...

Thanks in advance!

Hi Oleoleole

Instead of WD40 maybe you may like to clean bolts and railings with a cloth then use a little silicone spray.

Put a little duct tape, or a small piece of cloth at the edges of your seats where the seat meets the plastic (at your knees). Please remember to feedback if successful.

Hi robtot,

Thanks for yr reply!

This morning I got down on all fours in my car and wiped the railing and every bolt I could find underneath my seat, then sprayed wd40 on them. Result: clicking noise stil comes on intermittently. 😞

Weird thing is, I cant seem to replicate it however hard i shove and twist the chair. Only on uneven rds or windy bends then the clicking sound appears. Last choice is to go back TCM again but I'm pretty sure they won't be able (or don't want) to solve it. Sian

Nobody else have this issue?

Intermittent noise difficult lah....tcm will need the noise to be constant in order to rectify it

Finally did a drain and fill of CVTF using extractor method. Disappointed only 3 litres came out. But I could feel a difference in the drive.

Hi ole,

This is a 2 yr old issue ... TC has to change out the seat railing(s) under warranty.

Cheers.

Hi Roger,

They tried but usually after 2nd or 3rd visit without resolution, they relent since a known issue albeit an irritant rather than any functional or operational issue.

TC is quite ok but the parts may take a few weeks to arrived .. quite many of us get it changed during warranty, including yours truly.

Cheers.

Hi Richard,

Thanks so much for yr reply!

Ok i just texted the Service Advisor again, stating my disappointment that the issue was not solved even after a day of down time. They have scheduled another appt for me this week. Hopefully they wil relent this time and really replace the defective railings. If not, really waste alot of time running here and there, not mentioning the taxi fares as well.

One more thing, if you dont mind, can you PM me a photo of the service sheet that shows the defective part that they replaced? 🙂

Hi Ole,

Most welcomed ... unfortunately, I no longer have the service sheet to share.

Politely and firmly insist on replacement usually does the trick or ask to see Service Manager since already 2nd time going back while I hope they also resolve the steering noise issue that can also been some undercarriage parts being worn e.g. tie rods etc.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Oleoleole

I had the same problem. Went back to TC and they told me they will tighten some bolts at the seat.  I waited for about 2hrs and they came back to me and said that the seat mechanism is faulty and they required their upper management to approve before they can change it under warranty cause the cost is about 2k plus. Was told to go back first while waiting for the approval. The same evening at 7, the SA called me with good news and told me the repair was approved and was told to book an appointment ASAP as they had the last stock on hand. Overall, the experience was pleasant and i changed it on the last month of my warranty. If not, i would have need to fork out 2k plus to repair the seat. Btw, the seat they replace is the lower part only and not the whole seat.

Hey hafiras, tnx for yr reply! May I ask, when you mention that yr seat was replaced on the last mth of warranty, do you mean it's on the 2year 11mth period, or 4year 11mth period?

Tnx

Hi Lionel

It was on the 2 year 11 mth period. I went to Lokyang service centre. So far, my experience with them are pleasant. All my complaints were resolved no questions asked during my warranty period.

Best Regards

Hafiras.

Hi Icetee,

Unfortunately, those who had used primacy 3 ST may be disappointed with current new version of primacy 4 ST.

Marketing BS says 0.5db lower but just examine the new thread pattern and you will understand why it is no longer as quiet. Changed out on wife's "new" mazda 6 and a bit disappointed with thr $ spent .. not worth it.

Primacy 4 ST is still quiet but no longer exceptional and guess many other options to consider now out of no choice.  Road holding may be bettet though with the new thread pattern.

Cheers.

Richard
