Hi Richard,

Thanks for the clarifications. Mine is Feb 2017... No wonder SA didn't mention anything about this issue. One thing less to worry about then....

Regards

QQ2017

No need to worry and you do not even have to ask. It's official so Tan Chong will rectify automatically if affected when you send your car for servicing. There's no need for any rush also.

Hi all,

With regards to the sidestep type, which is the better/preferred type? the kind that require to remove the original side skirting? or the kind that just add on? does anyone have a taobao link?

Hi QQ2017,

Only cars before May 2016 are affected.

In worst case, your rear brake hose gets raptured and brake fluid leaks to render losing your braking system. It is a service campaign as it is safety related ..another reason why PIs or outside service workshops not preferred cos many of lesser but still safety related are lost.

Cheers.

Richard

Hi Devilcup,

Your car before May 2016 ?

If not, not affected.

Bro provided info already show car vin# onwards that had been fixed.

Cheers.

Richard

Hi Koyo,

Guess you have to like the design 1st but do choose the most narrow one since our qashqai is not high and it can be a hindrance to get in and out especially if vertically challenged albeit great for kids.

I personally like the bmw x series lookalike and there is narrower version .. taobao is your friend.

Cheers.

Will a letter be sent to owners for the recall? I have an 2015 car. Even LTA website also do not have the recall on it.

H Starushz,

Not aware any letter had been sent and perhap bros here can share but one bro earlier mentioned Service Centre asked him to ignore letter if received means TC should be sending out.

It is indeed safety related but you WILL notice brake losing effectiveness and brake system error if indeed rear hose is broken and leaking to dangerous level but yes, if you are not servicing in AD, there is risk to such lapse of info or even omission.

Cheers,

Richard

Bro,

I have same parking light warning problem.

3 weeks ago sent in LK to do oil leakage repair and 20K servicing.

LK did the brake calibration for me, but sadly to say the warning light come again.

Yesterday sent to BT and they did something to this (dun know what).

Now still under monitor, hope the warning light never light up again.

The battery came with the car is defected, it was stated in UK QQ forum, but TC never do any recall.

U must disengage Start/Stop function in order to pre long the battery life.

My first battery last me 13 months, but I know someone change 3 times within one year.

When turn right I also have this TOK sound, but very strange after my 20K service, this sound just disappear, but I dun complaint to LK, really dun know what happen.

Marble rolling sound, I suspect some screw and nut is inside, since you can hear it, just back to TC and test drive with them.

They should know where and how to solve it.

Good luck,

Marcos

Hi Marcos

How's your monitoring, did the warning lighted up again ?.

See mine is still lighting up everyday -

And mine was collected April 2016, thus will also be affected by the brake hose issue

& wasn't informed by TC till now.

I sent to BT Workshop again to rectify the warning light problem.

But 2 days after BT the light on again.

I am better than you, the warning light not lighting up everyday.

For the past one week, seems the light not lighting up again.

But I am waiting, if the light come back again, I'll drive strange to the nearest TC workshop and ask SA to plug in to diagnosis while the light still on.

Because, after we restart, the light will off and everything back to normal, and TC is unable to find the faulty code.

Hi Marcos

Maybe you want to try whenever you stop for red traffic light, engage the parking brake. When moving off, just accelerate lightly to let the parking brake disengage automatically without pressing the switch by hand. After a few red light stop, the warning will bounds to light up. Many people didn't know about this parking brake auto-disengage feature as the sales person only told everyone to press down the switch. Found this out from Honda Vezel's features website, as well as my Citroen owner friend.

Read from online this warning can be critical brake system failure and it was advised not to continue driving at all. To call a tow truck and have it towed to the workshop. Maybe should do that whenever it lights up again and claim the towing fees from TC so they will rectify it quickly, instead of the usual 'if it happens again, just send it back to workshop & we will check'. As if we are so free or enjoy sending our car to the workshop !.

Seems UK's QQ owners also cannot solve this problem.

I used to release the HB since the first day, I know it can disengage automatically but I dun use it.

Old fashion old uncle.

Mine was an e-brake failure and took me a few months before I can simulate right in front of SA. It's not a hard-on failure, comes and goes. When it happens, e-brake will blink when engaged and this also resulted in warning light on brake (Yellow).

They replaced the entire e-brake component and according to SA, quite major work but since under warranty, FOC. Problem free since then.

Kiteman,

Happy to know that you solved the problem.

How long it take for TC to do the replacement?

Strange...my SE told me abt this feature. He was so happy when he said it lol.

With the warning light on, anything unusual happened? Could you still brake normally?

Nothing unusual and it will go away once you off the engine & restart it. However, previously there were times it goes away only after a few restart.

But with the warning coming on as at when it likes, how would you know when it is an actual malfunction in the brake system and continue driving as normal !?!?.
