Hello everyone!

My name is Elvin and I have been a silent member for a long time.

I am driving a new QQ 1.2T since Oct 16 and I really like it alot!

Recently, I experience a problem with the brake.. In the mornings, whenever I brake and the QQ comes to a complete stop, there is a high pitch squeak sound. There is no sound when I apply brakes (car in motion and slowing down) and the sound only appears when car is in complete stop. This goes off usually after 1km.

Any bros experienced this? I am due for 5K servicing nx week but it is impossible to reproduce the problem as I will need to drive down to TC.

Cheers,

Elvin

When you brake, the car will slow down.. while the car is slowing down, there is no high pitch squeak sound.. the sound will only appear when the car is almost to a complete stop and goes off once the car is stationary..

Anything u did out of ordinary before this symptom appears? Like wheel washing, going through heavy rain/ponding...

i am not a mechanic and definitely not an expert. Just share my experience, I used to face this, it was due to my new brake pad. After changing again to another brand then ok liao.

This is what I faced last time. For your reference, might be another problem also. Let's see what others can chip in.

Hmm, the only thing I have changed is that I have up my rims to 19".. car still pretty stock hehehe..

the high pitch squeak sound sounds like metal grinding together.. after driving for around 1km, the sound is gone.. It always come back when I park overnight or more than 8 hours..

I am not sure if this is due to this:

1. Disc Brakes Squeak After Car Sits Overnight

Most brakes squeak after sitting overnight. This is usually due to moisture from rain, dew, or condensation that collects on the surface of the rotors.

When moisture collects on the brake rotors, it causes a thin layer of rust to form on the rotor surface. As the rotor turns, the pads scrape the rust off the rotors, and then the rust gets caught on the leading edge of the brake pad. These fine particles of rust then get embedded into the leading edge of the pad and cause a squeak.

The only way to prevent this type of squeak is to garage your vehicle or store it in a climate-controlled environment. Rust on the rotors can also cause pad impressions on rotors, which in turn, cause a thumping noise or brake pulsation.

Hi William,

Indeed our 1.2 with halogen bulb looks also yellowish while 2.0 with their stock LED is swee swee.

Buy from Taobao via ezbuy or aliexpress and look for those 55w with 10200LM to have longest throw but stay with 5000k temp type to match our DRL better. These comes with both fan type or fanless type with long fin cooler and while some bros bought some noisy ones with fan, mine seems ok:

Please also ensure you adjust your headlight to lowest or 2nd lowest height to avoid blinding others and your can diy to installing them while using cable tie to hold the driver box under the chassis structural bars.

Cheers,

Richard

Thks Richard.
