one main reason is the start stop functionality of the car (which now exist in almost every new car) that requires a "special" battery to support it. such batteries would not be cheap. and yes, getting at TC at the 2nd year (50%) is still cheaper than getting outside.

TC changed my battery when it was still under warranty to the AGM version, around September 2016. Lasted me till this week 12 March 2018. Just changed to Amaron 74AH for $180

Hi kenwjk

My 2L don't come with start/stop function :-

First battery - 8 mths suddenly died without warning claimed warranty

Second - left 84% advised to change when servicing

Told them just changed within 1 yr under warranty, they said thought such issue only happen to 1.2L

Checked was 1 yr 1 mth already but the Ubi's WM helped me claim FOC to appease me as I complained after servicing my TPMS shows all 4 tires with different pressure, mostly over the recommended pressure

My tire pressure was also all over the place after servicing at Lok Yang. 4 different pressures on 4 tires. Too high for the front tires and too low for the rear.

Surely it is not difficult to pump to the same and correct pressure?

Hi Pelican,

You replaced with Amaron 74AH. This is a AGM battery? You have start/stop? Can we use 'normal' battery [confused]

Regards

No, it's not a AGM battery.

Not sure if can use normal battery. Changed cause the AGM battery TC changed for me was dying.

Yes, driving 1.2L with start stop but turn it off every time I drive.

maybe other technical inclined members can comment.

Olderman, I am also on 2L (car camera not connected when engine is shut off).

My stock batt lasted around 1.5 yrs then it suddenly died one day. Changed batt at a tyre shop and within 2 months, died on me again. Was told it is a dud battery issue. Now i am not sure if it is a batt issue or an alternator issue.

Does your instrument panel dim (but won't flicker) when you turn on the DRL or headlights? Not sure if it is even related to batt/alternator issue.

I have been using them for last 10+ years. Battery replacement, tyre patch/change. It's a simple shop and they don't do wheel alignment as this require equipment. You can always go back TC for wheel alignment or drive to Johor to do, cheap cheap.

Was at TC two weeks ago replacing my front brake pad (less than 10% life). The adviser looked at my tyre and start asking how much it cost, when I told him the cost, his eyes pop out and told me for the 19", TC charge close to 500+ per pcs. With that price I can change  3 pieces. LOL.

thanks. $500+ for 3 pieces 19 inch is good price. What brand and model is that?

Would you happen to know if its possible to use the multi-function jumpstarter (like Marbella) to jumpstart the battery if it just dies on you suddenly? Thanks!

Hi bro, don't think there will be an issue since it's just an external power source to jump start the car.

I'm looking to buy one too

Hi Pelican,

Sure non AGM normal battery for 1.2l will work but will not be as durable as AGM or EFB types and it certainly help to have stupid start-stop disabled.

Believe charging circuitry for at least pre-FL is not optimum for both 1.2L and 2.0L and not sure if Nissan fixed that for FL version.

BTW, the stop-start function often start acting up when battery is dying as experienced by many pre-FL bros.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Nautz,

May have misunderstood your query but why wouldn't a jumpstarter work to jumpstart the car battery ?

However, if battery is faulty, it will not work ... it works on battery that just missed the some minimum cranking current and voltage which is typical and hence good to have one on standby.

Cheers,

Richard

Bros,

Another 1.2L option like the peugoet 3008's 230Nm torque compared to 160+Nm of qashqai 1.2l and also fuel sipping 3 cyclinder engine. This time from entry level German marque ....

Last day of promo though and with rear aircon ! But seems only 3008 is real competition to many reviewers:

Cheers.
