Carpark Gantry Cheats

I always wonder why there are signs saying tailgate is an offence at car park barrier exit.

 

Now I know why. I seriously did not think SGP car drivers would go down so low, so uncivilized as to cheat the car park system.  Hopefully these are minorities.

This reminded me of a strange incident

 

My father in law's old vios was able to exit one of the shopping malls' car park as long as no cash card was inserted in the IU

 

I thought it was a one time glitch but it worked every single time

 

And it was just for his IU cos when I tried same trick with my car, it did not work lol

I don't want to paint all of them in the same brush stroke, as I have a friend who's quite impatient to leave / drive off (and he goes quite near the car in front, but only for his office car park where he paid for season parking anyway).

 

So, maybe just one or two of them might be season parking people who just happen to be close to the video car.

Video is not available leh...doesn't matter what car u drive. Have encountered such peeps who like to pull up real close behind me when driving out from gantry, I will just pull away slowly to allow the barrier to come down behind me.

 

Pull away slowly actually makes it easier for them. What I do is slowly go through first. Once 3/4 of the car past the barrier, stop. Then accelerate off suddenly. The barrier sure come down before he can react. Unless he want to risk his car being hit by the barrier.

most carparks exit gantry sure have a couple of low abrupt humps. your car suspension must be damn tahkong to be able to accelerate off the last bit.

 

Thtat said, might work though if no humps and clear straight ahead and not into joining a busy road.

That's the reason for going 3/4 of the way first ma. So that only left the rear wheels to clear the hump.

If I am driving the likes of a pickup or some commercial tough vehicle, I am tempted at times to just do a quick acceleration during the last stretch and suddenly jam break just after the gantry arm. See their tailgate skill tah kong or my rear rash bar tahkong.

Bro, focus on the objective. You want to prevent pple from cheating the system, and not banging onto you and then going through all the accident hassle.

i also cheated before

 

last time i always pressed 60c when boarding the public bus (the transitlink and ticket system)  

 

when the bus inspector came, i would alight the bus

 

then after that they changed the system to Ez link system and people cannot cheat anymore

Enter carpark gantry jit tao deduct $25. When you exit propetly then the refund you the balance. See who still tailgate....

My case was entry gantry barrier lifted up so I entered without slowing down much. Upon gonna exit showed no entry record so barrier not lifted. then called main line then handphone. Exit wo being charged since it wasnt intentional. So earlier proposal not fair to ppl like me..

I tried before. no work. The pros are really "good", they can be as close as a few centimetres away and the gantry safety sensors will not be able to tell when your car has pass through fully.

I have personally seen one right in front of me ... they are really skilled ... so near to the one infront ....

Anyway, hope they are charged multiple times when they are back the same carpark !

I guess his objective is to make the cheater really regret cheating. This kind of speed, those lorry usually no damage one la. But the car behind will be cursing at himself for trying to save that few dollars and now might get claimed from the lorry driver. NCD gone, premium go up, no car to use for next few days.

Not really. Since you have no entry record, there is no basis to charge you for. At the exit, it will still be processed the same way, ie waived after you call up the control station.

 

It's those with entry record and wants to siam paying that will kenna from the proposals.

anyway begs the age old question.. can own thousand dollar car but cheapskate to pay few $$$ for parking..

In terms of cost, yes definitely there will be additional cost.

 

But talking about space? Can be done one la. 

 

Look at Woodlands Checkpoint, they managed to erect second set of barriers behind the original ones. So space is definitely not an issue.

 

 

Good idea but administratively costly and also you need extra space to do this so commercially not viable I suppose.

 

Try jam brake right after you cross the barrier. Scare the sh1t out of them tailgaters. Hahaha

the best way to stop these cheats is to do a double gate/boom method.

 

when the car is exiting, there will 2 gates/booms, one gate/boom is in front of the car, the other is at the back of the car. 

 

the rear boom will only lift up after the first car has paid, exit the carpark and the front boom has closed. like this, the tailgating car cannot tailgate to exit

 

I think they do this in some places in Europe. Not a bad idea.

Some forumers mentioned they would move off slowly at exit point to prevent the car behind from cheating carpark....

 

My question is what has that got to do with you ?

 

My worry would be the tailgater accidentally langgar my car and cause me inconvenience. I don't really care if the person behind pay for his carpark
