OK,

found this ... so basically if you own a landed house that can have space for solar panels, you can charge your Tesla

https://www.teslamotors.com/en_AU/powerwall?redirect=no

so theoretically speaking after paying for the installation of the solar panels & this tesla powerwall & battery, you literally wont need to pay for electricity (aka you can drive for FREE! - after road tax, ERP II, insurance, etc)

if you can prove to have this self charging station up and working, can LTA still charge / assume that you use the traditional power plug ?

next big question is how much to get this install inside your house / garage ...

I rather suspect, given the recent fiasco over the self import -

LTA, URA, HDB, BCA all are not going to be very friendly to this, and any import of a Tesla is going to be really really hard.

true... but assuming if Tesla allows reservations from SG, it's safe to say they will be arranging with the vehicle import and stuff... We can let Tesla handle it with SG authorities..

It's not clear at this stage if the cost quoted on Tesla's site at the point of vehicle customization  includes additional tax and charges like ARF, Excise Duty, etc.. But it wouldn't make sense for Tesla to expect buyers to separately pay/handle the additional SG charges on their own - that would piss potential buyers off...

not sure if Musk and LHL talk will get the ball rolling with the STAT Boards.

LHL told them to re-look into it.

they won't try to make it harder to give LHL some face.

let's wait and see.

with changes happening in the industry, will we remain stuck and cannot change?

Elon has direct line to LHL. nobody in the world buy car without custom, tech, service or warranty support. Unless Matchbox or Hot wheels.

SG is a small market. If they dont want to piss potential buyers off, they would need a dealer which would increase the price of the car.

This is truly a joke.

My disappointment with the current leadership of this country is justified.

Although I am disappointed with their official reply and flabbergasted by their explanations, moral of this story is to buy NEW EV cars!! Don't ghey kiang buy a second hand EV and import into SG. Although I symphatize with Joe, he should have originally bought a new Model S if he could afford it.

Interesting to see what customs think of the OMV for it.

Take a look between Honda HR-V which has old L15A engine, way poorer equipment to Honda Vezel.

PI VS AD and the lower spec AD HR-V has a higher OMV than the much better spec JDM PI Vezel. Interesting?

So? your home appliances should now start paying extra emission tax?

LOL

Home appliance not a vehicle but electric scooter and bike should have CEVS. Their emission per KM should be terrible. Lol.

there is only 1 logic

Pay and Pay

pay already must also pay

pay and pay already must also tax on tax

pay once does not mean pay all already

with erp 2.0 ... it's every second pay
