Don't pin too much hope on the "new" Estima, as it seems like another facelift with little mentioned about engine updates. Rumoured to be ready for launch in Japan in July this year, and so far the CGI are pointing to changes in the front light and bumper (it look a little like the new Prius, so look is subjective).

I will share more if I read something else.

Thanks a lot… appreciate it.

but sigh… this is so disappointing… i was hoping can have new estima to consider by this year or next. If still rehash old tech, then really is lousy lor. More than 10 yr no revamp, Toyota really complacent with estima...

Precisely, no changes at all. Probably an add on daylight LED and LED taillight?

The way I see is that most Japanese automaker are at the crossroad for determining the choice engine for the next decade. Like it or not, the tighten emission and fuel consumption standard are driving many auto manufactuer up the wall. And by far, the most "feasible" approach (commercially viable and sustainable) is through use of TC in downsized engine, hybrid (including PHEV), and TC diesel (although there is still a big debate over the emission of other harmful gases).

Japanese has been relying too much on NA petrol engine, and hybrid technology (in fact just Toyota & Honda actively into hybrid), and simply refuse to go into TC, SC and Diesel. And there is just this much a NA petrol engine can do in terms of fuel consumption (already reaching the max, imo), so they have to decide which direction to go next. We have seen Toyota & Honda trying out fuel cell car, but I don't think it is commercially viable (lot of investment needed into providing infrastructure for refueling for example).

Toyota is not alone, Honda is as bad, and Mazda did slightly better with their "Skyactiv" series, but as I have mentioned, it is near the limit. So end of the day, the ball is in the court of the Jap, to go fully into Hybrid, or swallow their pride (sort off) and follow the European with downsizing & TC approach.

I don't meant to belittle the Jap, but reality bites. I for one is very disappointed that Honda do not have a replacement for the once very powerful NA VTEC (found in the EG Civic)...

I'm driving the NFL Elgrand. Can go in those car parks with minimum height 1.82m.

Pro: Very comfortable, spacious...don't feel enclosed, quiet cabin. More modern interior.

Con: hight consumption. Mostly 8.4km/l.

Too big size, difficult to manoeuvre as compare my previous Picnic.

70% of time driving alone, but really enjoy it. Don't feel like a van as I drove Hiace for delivery occasionally. 29% with wife & kid. 2% will only occupy 8 pax. My wife always say I siao.

If you're looking for an 8 passenger vehicles, I'd say go for GMC Acadia. It's affordable and yet spacious with powerful performance. Here's and informative guide with all list of 8 passenger vehicles with their pricing. http://www.letsdrivecar.com/8-passenger-vehicles/

These cars are for the US market, not suitable for Singapore right hand drive traffic. Even if there are right hand drive versions, because of the road tax structure and hefty importation tax etc, it makes owning these cars very costly here.

I suppose you are not aware that our cars are of right-hand-drive instead of left-hand-drive, so not suitable for the roads here. Much as I drool over the cars you mentioned, especially the 6.1m long Nissan with its 275 possible seats configurations, they are not viable options for us.

Thanks, Buddy.  In that case, I'll surely share some worthy advice from my side later on for the Singapore Region.   BTW you got it right,  Nissan is awesome in terms so many seating configurations. It's our ideal vehicle for long road trips as well.

GMC brand vehicles are not on sale in Singapore.

You might be interested to bring them in if you are a car dealer.

reliability is excellent. used for 3yrs so far no major problems. FC a bit high. average about 9-10 per litre. quite normal for this size. not outstanding but not the worst either.
