the thought of AWD leads to better stability is questionable.

cars these days are equipped with electronic stability control and higher power car equipped with torque vectoring or XDS (VW) which makes the car drives better and safer. As such, I do not think cars with AWD/4WD actually provides better stability.

On top of that, Double wishbone and multi-link further enhance the stability and drive. How the car suspension is tuned also contributed to the drive too.

Just my thought.

one possibility is the AWD which leads to higher FC. Not everyone is willing to trade higher FC for better stability.

maybe he meant in terms of road grip =P haha. thats where the fuel consumption comes in. since you are using power to drive 4 wheels instead of 2.

not forgetting tyres wear off slightly faster too.

hmm now waiting for car..... shall post update on fuel after running in the car =)

Coming from a FWD car, I can share that there is a big difference when it is raining and ponding on the highway.

With a FWD car, the car swerves when you hit a puddle with only one side of the car.

With my current car, it just drives through like nothing happened.

The CG of subaru cars tend to be lower due to the boxer engine placement, coupled with AWD and torque vectoring; minimizes body roll at corners. Different car brands has their own tech to reduce body roll too as you mentioned, so I agree that there is not much difference in dry weather.

The main FC killer for subaru is the car weight. Wastes a lot of fuel during start-stop traffic.

When cruising, the CVT is actually quite efficient.

This car is well spec-ed. Why it isn't selling? For the same spec, Altis is selling at 110+. Honda is already at 110 without such spec.

I can understand the only qualm is the lack of power which when tested, it is really the case but will have to set right expectation and drive normally.

Why can't sell? Because Subaru branding?

good spec and good price, that's reason I bought Impreza.

Subaru brand was never in wish list, but this Impreza change my perception. I went to the showroom on Sat, booked the ride the next day. The swiftest decision I ever had for big ticket item.

Went to the show room today, same offer for Impreza 4D $89,800. Cheapest in full spec Japanese made car in the town, don't talk about the Lancer.

After test drive, not much comment on overall performance. Just wonder the car body is extremely low, measure only 5" to the ground, feel is won't pass through most of the hump. Especially if you travel to Malaysia with that kind of road condition, sure your heart will scratch every time heard the sound!!!

I totally switch off my mind on this car. Any comment from existing car owner?
