Thank you. I don't seem to find a send message option after clicking your profile name. Is it because mine is a new account? Sorry for the basic questions. =)

Ongoing for 30 years.

They still do quality checking - just that they get cheaper staff to do it.

May not necessarily mean that the cheaper staff do a worse job.

It's like locally, there are registered electricians who only sign official documents and collect money, but the real work done by others who may be better skilled than them but just don't have the official electrician title.

Subaru and other car manufacturers will still do QA on their cars because if they don't it is more expensive for them to fix once it is out of the factory.

I'm not so worried about this issue.

More worried about the Takata airbags (which only affect older vehicles so new Impreza is safe) and also the Kobe steel quality cheating case.

Are they bringing in 1.6 Impreza next year after they clear this year's backlog?

unlikely MI will continue to sell the 1.6 bro. It is not becoz of backlog, it is becoz the 1.6 will be slapped with the 10k emission surcharge. So price will be close to the 2.0, nobody will buy 1.6 then.

Speculation or official?

not selling now is official (not due to backlog). Cease to sell from Jan onwards is speculation. in current market, the 1.6 slapped with additional 10k surcharge will be price out by others, even its own 2L version.

They might tune the engine to lower the subcharge.
