I saw this. Wonder anyone does this here?

The new Vezel 2016 model has a similar camera mounted on the side view mirror.

The better specced BMWs also come with the same. It's a very useful feature for parallel parking and close manoeuvring.

personally i find that can be quite distracting.. a little is good too much can be bad..

its a waste of time and money to put this on a vezel as it is a small car and all round visibility is good. it's better and easier to turn your head a little to check the blind spot.

but this will come in handy for large vehicles like big truck and bus.

Nissan X-Trail has the 360 degree camera system, and it's probably the cheapest car available with it.

I believe the high-spec Honda Accord also has a side-view camera.

My car only uses blind-spot monitoring system, based on radar, not cameras.

Merc S-class, BMW 7-series, all those high end luxe rides have things like this available... if you talking about doing aftermarket, might be hard to implement, but I believe the Toyota Harrier Advanced version was supposed to have this system with the original head unit. Got one Harrier owner in that thread trying to get it to work with the aftermarket head unit.

Too much electronic aids for the driver nowadays

That's why we have more and more kuku drivers with poor judgement

Useful on bigger cars. But small cars like Vezel is overkill la. Don't be too dependent on these. I don't like those radar ones like the merc one. Keep beeping when I going through the customs cuz their lane so narrow....

back in driving school we were told to just turn head and check.just 1s....

But I will certainly appreciate it if I got stiff neck...

Yeah I remember purposely turning my head at blindspot situations during driving test to avoid demerit points. That kinda stuck even until now which I appreciate, because it's helped to avoid some close shaves.

Human cannot be relied upon to exercise their own judgement all the time.

That's also why we have no-u turn signs, medisave, medishield, cpf etc....

Embrace technology.

Have you ever wondered:

what people complained about when they first made a production car in 1900s? "What is wrong with horse carriage?" "That THING is a Frankenstein!"

What people complained when gear boxes innovated from single gear to 2 gears? "Why need 2nd gear?" " So distracting to shift gear!" " I am not going to buy that new model because I just need 1 gear"

In more recent years,

What people complained when automatic transmission just became commercially viable? "I can shift myself!" "The auto shift takes away the soul of driving" "I shift faster than that stupid automatic"

What people complained when cruise control gets filtered down from the merc S class? "Why do I need a cruise control? I will doze off!" " I don't trust the cruise control can stop in time even if I brake!"

What people complained when the auto park system gets filtered down to the BnB cars? "I can park the car by myself absolutely fine" "Why need to take driving license when you start to depend on this feature?"

What people complained when you have lane departure, blind spot view, blind spot warning, 360 view? " it is too distracting." "Why need to take driving license when you have all those gizmos?"

End of the day, nobody is going to look back at what you posted 20 years ago today, when you are being driven from point A to point B in a floating vehicle and laugh at your futile resistance to technological improvements.

I think having technology that is there to aid you is the reason technology exists and grows. I have gradually phased myself towards using my dynamic guideline on reverse camera to help me park in one smooth sweep.

But that is not saying I cannot use the old fashion style of mirrors. If you have the technology... why not use it? As long as you don't become hopeless without it.

But I really find it so disheartening that when people get together... you don't see them chatting as much as you see them staring at their handphone... even steady couples... or if they are chit-chatting they will still be clutching the smartphone facebooking
