HID bulb in a Halogen Projector lens

Projector lens can accept both halogen and HID. Many taxis on the road are projector lens but using halogen bulbs. 

 

Do halogen and HID bulb come in old school orangey colour?  Or must it always come in white & bluish white?

technically, it is not a direct replacement of HID into halogen projector, there are as many others doing it too. Whether it looks like the same, it is individual decision. I have the similar thought before but killed it after i rationalised it with the following,

 

"What if it catches fire?" Short-circuited or whatever happens... This is a bigger issue than just having that HID lights. As said, there are many doing it including my sibling. My new ride comes with just HALOGEN REFLECTOR instead of HID or LED or even Halogen projector... AD will NEVER do the modification as they are just AD carrying exclusive dealership of that brand. All parts and repair will have to claim the manufacturer directly. They hold little liability during warranty period or beyond that with genuine parts. That's why even if you pay, they will seldom or never do it depends on what component.

 

It is individual's call to retrofit whatever they want. Suggestion may be to ride out the warranty period and do a assembly swap. By doing HID into halogen assembly, you probably will need to cut out a hole on the assembly to fit new wiring. Also, some HID will have lower lumen output to comply with not having headlight washer requirement in certain countries. Therefore, their HID light output is not as bright as others.

 

For me, I have come to term with the halogen reflector lighting till my next ride, probably 9 years later... haha
