GrabHitch/RYDE-car pooling services

I only activate my Hitch if I am convenient to pick someone up along my way home but have encountered various self-entitled people who really don't grasp the concept of hitching and think that their $5 goes a very long way to paying for my daughter's college fund.

I see it as a mutually beneficial, single-serving relationship - I go (slightly) out of my way to pick them up and drop them off (again, deviating from my usual route and eating into my personal time as well) and they get an affordable ride to their destination. I'm not asking for a plaque here but I do not expect to be treated as though I owe them a living.

End rant. Peace out. :D

Those rider who ask this ask that 'can you this....', 'can you that....', I just cancel the ride. Don't waste time on them.

They think their few dollars bigger than a bull cartwheel.

So what kind of special services do they usually ask from you.

Things like can you reach the destination by certain timing DURING PEAK HOUR, can you wait 20 mins, etc.

Their understanding of grabhitch is totally off.

Ever encountered those who ask for single hitch only or declare one passenger number and turn up with another?

I had to cancel a few hitches as the hitcher declared 1-2 pax but turned up with 3-4 pax. I have a baby seat mounted - hence taking more than 2 is physically impossible. And they made me deviate off-course to waste my time. Sigh.

Oh yes, those who ask for single hitch and saying rushing for time.

In this case, go and get Grabcar where you are the sole passenger la!

their mentality: why pay when hitch is so much more affordable? Sigh.

I have met a few too. Two ladies to be exact. The moment they board the car, mobile phone is glue to their face. I take that as a Q for a silent tranquil journey and automatically into my avoidance list. Most of my riders are regulars. I always have one rider each for both journeys to and fro between home and work which is about $26 - $30 per day into my extra income coffer. So far so good. Enjoy while Grabhitch last.

Same with me.

My intention is to kill boredom and at the same time expand beyond my existing network.

Meeting this kind is like defeating the purpose. The $10 is like very big and I owe them a living.

I've reduced to only perhaps once it twice a week now.. or when I see the good ones I hitched before.

So far I've not hitched property agents.. Maybe they are drivers themselves..

If the person turn out to be someone else or more than the requested number, u better cancel.

Grab insurance don't cover them and if touch wood meet an accident, u after on your own.

Don't that that risk

Issue is lack of education by Grab and there's no reputation system to weed out bad riders.

So they continue their undesired expectations on hitch drivers and get away with it

I hate riders who ask me what time reached ?

Can you be there by xxx hr ?

Heck, how would I know ?

Look at the bloody peak hour traffic.

Then some will say they are late. Can you drive faster ?

But they take their own sweet time to make you wait for them.

Until today i still havent try grab hitch, cause afraid this service is the same as grab share, driver would accept many riders and then take me half of sg before reaching my destination. Also grab hitch advice to book as early as possible, so if i have last min thing not taking the ride, not very good to cancel if the ride is confirmed in advance.

This is the type of farked up rider I am talking about. Pay only $1 but not willing to share with other riders.

She can go fark spider or wait long long.

The $1 she paid is bigger than a bull cartwheel.

Yes, you can and both rider or driver are not penalized. I tend not to do that as I respect other people's time.

IMO the drivers that get affected the most are those that make big detour to pick. which IMO defeats the spirit of hitching somewhat.

So far mine are just beside my block or office building, or somewhere nearby within a few minutes drive.

Cancel on me then I'll just be in my way loh.. no sweat no swear
