Mrlancergtx 5th Gear July 29, 2019 Share July 29, 2019 fetch me! fetch me! i am pretty pleasant I have always had taken hitch in few cars and most of the time it has been a pleasant experience. I have had my fair share of hitch drivers accepting the call and cancelling 10 minutes later or even on the morning of the ride. Having said that, I guess I have been lucky enough to get replacement rides quite quickly and so far have not had reason to go searching for options when I really needed to get into the city earlier than my usual time. In case I don't get any hitch pickups, I will possibly look for options such as grabshuttle or the premium bus ride to the city instead of squeezing myself in the MRT. poresia 2nd Gear July 29, 2019 Share July 29, 2019 How to tell based on their profile? Some rider even did not give full name, also dont know if it is gal or guy? i hitch passengers everyday. i only hitch certain categories of passengers. not convenient to mention which group i dont hitch but most bros will know what i mean. now i also dont hitch those with no photos or show a photo of bear or scenery. if u do that, i take it that you have something to hide. have also build up a group of regulars (cannot wake up to catch company transport once a while) n always have pleasant experience hitching them n catch up with them chatting. i will also wont hitch more than 1 pax in 1 booking. no economic sense to hitch more than 1 pax in 1 booking. always keen to see if those bookings of 3 to 4 pax will be accepted when pickup time is due. Those passengers whom i had bad experience will also be "banned" from my list. most is empty car. anyway, hitch is bonus to me bcos i still need to drive to work or back home after work with or without hitch.

I hitch because I like to meet people so I can't stand those who sit behind and play with hp. Just Kenah one today. Late by 4 min even though I specifically reminded her to be on time. Normally I would cancel and go but today waited. End up sit behind and pretend not to hear me when I asked her to buckle up. Then, since she decided not to talk, I blast my music and enjoy my ICE. Then, she asked me to lower volume of my music. So well, this is an example of a bad rider. Haha. But otherwise most are ok. My favorite are those who bother to sit in front. It will be a bonus if they chat. If not, nvm.

It doesn't bother me if they sit behind, but they must let me listen to my music. Haha.

I drive a fairly large car and I would look like a chauffeur.
Vinceng Turbocharged July 30, 2019 Share July 30, 2019 The point is - once you collect payment, you are a chauffeur! Unless you are giving a free ride, then you have the rights to dictate where the rider should sit.

Unless you are giving a free ride, then you have the rights to dictate where the rider should sit. Grab sends a message to riders to sit up front, chit chat and make a friend. And in the morning, riders get a super discounted ride with no surge pricing. It is only nice to sit up front and respect the driver. So there's no excuse to sit behind. Sitting in the back is no-no for me and non-negotiable. I drive a fairly large car and I would look like a chauffeur. That was what pissed me totally today. Rider late, don't buckle despite me saying, sit behind and still ask me to turn down volume. I drive a luxury conti make, so I know how you feel. Anyway like I said, I hitch to make friends and also, extra money who don't want? But I do have a few very nice regulars. So overall it's still nice to hitch. So do you actually tell them to sit in front?

Just accept it and you won’t feel miserable. If it’s free, I would treat him/her as a friend so obviously I expect the person to sit in front.

About a third will actually head for the rear door if they were not informed beforehand. I will open the front passenger door from the inside to indicate that they should take the front seat, or I will tell them to sit up front if they have already opened the back door.
Voodooman Supersonic July 30, 2019 Share July 30, 2019 Where does it say this?? The premise is a hitch. Not a paid ride. You are right. Taken from Grab website. GrabHitch is not an on-demand, commercial ride hailing service. GrabHitch is a social ride-sharing initiative launched by Grab to match journeys between private car drivers and commuters heading the same way at the same time. Drivers choose to share their rides with passengers and get paid a basic fare that covers their petrol costs, while passengers enjoy a socially interactive ride that is 20-40% cheaper than alternative private transport options. ..... Take the front seat, be social and thank the driver Wave to your driver when the car arrives and sit in front. Your driver is not a commercial driver doing this for profit and he could have as many things to talk about as you do, so be nice and chit-chat away! Oh and don’t forget to thank him or her for giving you a tompang too! Anyway, it is your car and if you are not doing this solely for money, could be social or for whatsoever reasons, you can certainly set the terms.

Maybe I shall try this. ↡ Advertisement
