How to clear kitchen choked floor piping?

Both my washing machine and kitchen sink drain to this main drainage pipe on the kitchen floor.... recently when both are drain at the same time, the water was being force out due to slow drainage to the common pipe - sign of choking. This morning, without even using the washing machine, just washing at the sink, the water runs out....but still drained very slowly..... then I use the aluminium broom handle and shove it down the pipe, pieces of white solid block float up and I removes it..... now it seems like TOTAL CHOKE [bigcry]

When I look above the ceiling, checking how my above neighbor's drainage pipe looks like, a normal U shape, but funny I can't feel any opening all around at the bottom of the pipe with the aluminium handle.... so I wonder if I get those "snake flimsy metal rod" , I wonder can it penetrate and clear those solidified waste since those wire are so flimsy....

any advice? [grin]

Go to DIY shop & buy DRAINO.

Pour it into your drainage pipe via floor trap & hot water.  Soak it for 1 hour.  It will clear after that.

Last year, my kitchen pipe from the main sink was choked and water leaked out from the pipe hole. So I bought NTUC bleach to try out. I waited the water leaked to subside and poured the bleach into the pipe. I used up about one quarter amount of the bottle. The choke was cleared after 4 to 6 hours later.

It was the most effective and value for money way to clear choke.

u stay at HDB?

Get your town council plumber. They offer very reasonable rate.

haha if so easy, plumber no need make $ liao

This is like saying if your auto transmission fluid is leaking, just top up more...

I used it before. At first I'm also skeptical but after using, not anymore. Unless you drop something into the water trap(that's what they call it) that's blocking the drainage dan you call a plumber.

Mine was caused by sand/gravel that was dumped inside during renovation.

But yeah, 1st step should always be these caustic agents.

2nd step then is mechanical.

but if the pipe is old, likely quite a lot of issues.

use my method. sure clear one

paid TC plumber bangla $30  [laugh]

mine is on the fridge at home, got provide warranty somemore.

I found him on Google.

I agree some chokes you can clear yourself, like toilet bowl or toilet floor trap.

Kitchen floor traps are a big challenge coz of the build up of grease hair and food particles.

I'm not a person to call for external help till I really tried everything under the sun and the smell just blew me away everytime I go back home.

Now I get my helper to pour boiling water down the trap once every few days just to make sure it doesn't happen again.

If got any old mop if not buy a new one, cut is shorter so as to push it into the drainage - just a few push up and down will clear anything inside. This will last you at least a few years before it choke again.

Please make sure the mop head is securely attached to the handle. Last thing you want is it got separated inside the drain pipe. Edited by Leinad8919

Picture of the nasty drain pipe. Top half was a nice sludgy cake.

After cleaning with high pressure washer, believe me, the cake is gone and the water level actually drops another feet.

Which means it was already half-clogged.

But beware of the splash-back when using pressure washer and standby bleach cleaner to remove the smell.

For me, I always use the snaky thing. My snaky thing is attached to a power drill and set at low speed. Just insert the snaky thing into the choked pipe then turn on the power drill to very slow speed. Move the snaky thing up and down in the pipe. Cleared easily.

this is how restaurant kitchen do, they have regular maintenance contract for these, but their  drain snake much is bigger, longer and electrically powered compared to those residential ones,  personally I find that this is the best option to clear the drain, those oil, rice leftover really thick, just  a few  " pull through " with the snake thingy and then pour a pail of water down will flush everything away don't need to shout  I...A... I...A leow [;)]

Last round I dismantle the Bottle Trap, and all the pipes that can be detached from the sink to the bottle trap and after the trap.

And clean all of them. There's alot of thick slimy  stuff to clear. Problem solved

The bottle trap is still within your house unit. The difficult is the choked and harden grease are normally at those big U piping at the kitchen roof of the unit below.
