Angcheek Hypersonic January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 I think that location is dark and not much human traffic. I read that there is one incident when a boy's school bag dropped into a canal, he went to retrieve it and drowned, his friend went down to save him but end up both of them died. that place maybe very "dirty" I didnt know that. I hope i will never get to do this. U either break the window or the wind screen . Drop from such height, screen likely crack. ↡ Advertisement
Nolicense Turbocharged January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 I didnt know that. I hope i will never get to do this. can try this experiment. insert a glass upside down with a board covering the lip. at a depth of 1 meter or more, turn the glass right side up. does the board remain sealed to the lip or does the air push the board open and bubble up? Shibadog Turbocharged January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 controlled experiment in an enclosed car and already almost didn't make it. But confirmed that car turned turtle underwater is impossible to escape. this kind maybe need James Bond or Ethan Hunt to escape or conduct rescue... and throw in night condition + murky water... Jman888 Moderator January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 that place maybe very "dirty" not maybe ..... During the Japanese Occupation of Singapore from 1942 to 1945, two prisoner-of-war camps were located in the area bound by River Valley Road and Havelock Road. Due to their proximity, these camps were often referred to collectively as the River Valley Road Camp. European, Australian, Indian and local prisoners-of-war were interned at this camp. In the post-war period, the site was redeveloped into a Fraser & Neave factory, then replaced by the Fraser Suites condominium and the Valley Point shopping mall adjacent to it. The location was marked as a historic site in 2002.
Angcheek Hypersonic January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 not maybe ..... how to counter 'dirtiness' ?
Shibadog Turbocharged January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 That guy who heard the crash and saw the car in the river sinking, could ran 20m to the police post (as reported) to informed the policemen on duty there ..... If he reversed the scenario & ran to the crash site and jump in. Is it possible that he could at least save one life or both ... possible that he could have saved one or both, but what are the chances in those conditions? also, what are the chances he would have injured himself while trying to rescue them? gotta play the percentages. long long time ago I helped two primary sch kids out of a canal in east side, cos they were stuck in the mud at the bottom.... that was bright daylight and had lots of time to find a safe ingress point. Mockngbrd Supersonic January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 (edited) really a stuck carpet? Eyewitnesses told The Straits Times that the car emerged from the carpark of Valley Point Shopping Centre in River Valley Road at around 9pm. It drove straight into the bushes next to Alexandra Canal before hitting the water.Mr Poon told Shin Min Daily News that the CCTV also captured the car leaving the carpark. He saw his wife and daughter for a last time in the footage, he said. It is understood that Mdm Yep was driving while her daughter was sitting in the front passenger seat. From the footage, Mdm Yep looked like she was stepping on the brake, Mr Poon said. He added that she had been driving for about 20 years and is an experienced driver. He said that his wife and their daughter were close and they were planning to go on a holiday to Hong Kong. Witnesses told Lianhe Wanbao that the car sank into the water quickly, and turned upside down. Edited January 25, 2016 by Mockngbrd

Karoon Turbocharged January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 Night rescue in dark waters is quite challengingEven in daylight its so murky you can't see how deep and there's also a lot of debris making jumping in a risk. Everything from metal parts to glass. But hope there'll be more rescue stuff around these places... ropes, lifesavers etc. Also, we're a small island. Some coastal areas i've been to actually conduct public lessons on what to do if your car end up stuck at the beach, tide rising etc. and other likely scenarios. Maybe it's time for those here. Might help save lives if passers-by have better knowledge
