maybe not river use, but say if car crash and seat belt stuck, might be useful.

I am not sure if water enter the seat belt release button it will stop working immediately. not much info to go on.

Good to keep this in Car in event of emergency, need to break car window.

I confess, I don't go to the posh area Pubs like around Clark Quay area and I don't drink.

So no fear of landing into Singapore River or Kallang River.

I the how how ren, stay at home when darkness falls ... :XD:

Will a steering lock break the window easily too? The steering lock can also be a self defence tool.

Can but need to put on crash helmet first before using in a confined space...

What is the strength of the crash barrier along the Toa Payoh longkang..... :omg:

Should be able to hold the crash of a 10 tonnes lorry right, my car only 1.5 tonne ... :scared:

Actually no worries, always less then 2 feet of water.... :XD:

Hypersonic

The car electronic system said they were buckled in but the women were found floating inside the cabin without seatbelts on.

Coz car electronics and water do not go well together.

My guess is they were buckled but when the car falls into the water they unbuckle the seat belt trying to escape but did not managed to, while the electronic had shorted or battery went dead not registering the belt unbluckling when soak in water

Everyone should have a basic idea on how the car react when submerged. Whether we still have the mental clarity under panic mode is another issue altogether.

Apparently, in USA, there was a woman and child skidded and their car went into a body of water. The woman remembered what she saw on this particular mythbuster episode, did not panic, unbuckled their seat belt, waited patiently for their cabin to fill with water (pressure equalized) before opening the door and swam out with the child. It saved their lives and they wrote in to the show to relate their experience and appreciation.

I think most people would not remember anything or in a state of calm to react when car submerge into deep water, all will be in super panic mode.
