ya, kenna the virus and recover no big deal,

but imagne 1 family with a baby like that , the suffering is ..........

Birth defect is lifetime and for some people, abortion is not allowed so the consequences are enormous.

Dengue whilst more dangerous as can lead to death has been around for quite awhile so maybe we have become complacent so perhaps Zika is a timely wake up call for all of us.

That "small head" birth defect seems to be particularly high in a certain part of Brazil as compared to rest of the World where Zika has infected so makes you wonder if there are other reasons behind this but so far no one has come up with a confirmed theory.

Maybe true, this zika thing still quite alarming to many of us. Now people have the mindset kena mozzie bite will kena zika! Thats why seems like must apply insect repellent 24/7 no matter where.

As numbers of Zika Virus has been increasing, would wish anyone here to share any inputs about prevention along with CDC

Heres my 2 cents worth of thoughts

Application of Mosquito Repellent When we are out at all times reapply when necessary

If mosquito repellent are out of stocks, bring a a stalk of lemongrass out

Pour away any stagnant water at home

Application of Biological Larvicides like Mosquito Dunks to roof gutters (Landed housing) & Mosquito killer to flower vase/flower pots or places with ponding issues to prevent mosquito breeding.

Don't let your area be the next zika cluster.

Redeploy a million units of this across the island

This kills mosquito not merely repel

Problem: sure got some Siao Kia go and steal

Probelm: need maintenance to throw away the dead mosquito bodies

came across this article online sometime back

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/133548/20160214/monsanto-larvicide-not-zika-virus-true-cause-of-brazils-microcephaly-outbreak-doctors.htm

Possibility of microcephaly caused by chemical larvicide (Toxic to human , animal , marine life form and all other life forms)

Look out for labels when using larvicide like Acute toxic to marine life = not suitable to place in aquatic ponds

Minimal Toxic labels may also cause nausea or drowsiness

Also a pretty good idea but yea, confirm got people go steal and 1 trap can cover up a a certain square meter of land only , so really need alot of this traps.

Need more application of larvicide and at the same time fogging to exterminate the entire mosquito race , from larvae to adult.

We can get get st eng guys to mod it so that we can fix it to lampposts so that it would not be easily stolen

But actually easy job lah, just need to bracket to secure to lamppost

Pay a bunch of fw to do welding can already :XD:

Don't even need to disturb the st Eng guys
