Adrianli Hypersonic January 12, 2016 Share January 12, 2016 DIY I diy my own. Go shop choose the type you like. Then at home, 1) Turn off the mains, super important. 2) Unscrew the braided metal flexible hose that connects to the tap. 3) Using a socket wrench, need to buy from hardware shop, unscrew the old tap. 4) Install new tap and screw back nut to secure the new tap to the sink. 5) Connect back the braided hose. 6) Slowly turn on the mains to check for leaks. 7) Full blast the tap to let it wash the internal of the tap. Job done. Take $30 and put inside your own pocket. I changed my own shower fittings and electric heater too. DIY.. tough to carry the damn tub up to the ceiling. its called a tube wrench. you also need an adjustable wrench. tap should come with some new washers. else buy some. if you just changing the tap you will not need any "white" tape or thread seal tape. the thread seals will prevent the rubber washers from sitting well. Usually the permanent cure is changing out the gasket or the discharge container. Don't waste time with silicone or glue. I had managed to resolve leaks with this type of bowl basin using silicone sealant. May I request for photos ... side view of the basin and tap...underneath view from inside the cabinet. The water is likely to leak through the tiny gap between the round stainless steel "stopper" seat and the basin. Throttle2 Supersonic March 22, 2017 Share March 22, 2017 I am part time plumber so i can tell you that this is an easy fix. If leaking from the drainage hole then just aply silicon around it. But it may just be a spill from the edges of your round basin. Very commonly mistaken as leak at the drainage hole. If still cannot, then call me, i will come and fix for you at $50 per hour. I use a similar basin, and sometimes, the outside base takes a little time to dry, so it seems like a leak. Atrecord Supersonic March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 If it's confirmed a leak (and not merely 粗鲁 usage resulting in water splashing all over the place, including beyond the basin's rim thereby water flowing down by the side of the basin), then it's likely the rubber seal/stopper/washer/gasket is either misaligned (more likely, if there was some knocking) or worn out (less likely). This one should be able to find at hardware shop and can consider DIY. My own MBR basin was leaking for maybe 2-3 weeks intermittently recently, then 2 wk ago had to call plumber to come in to fix it. Ended up, it was a rubber washer inside the tap head that has somehow slipped out of position (it's not worn out), and so hasn't been doing its job of stopping water from sipping out. While it looks and sounds easy, it would have been beyond me to climb up to able the false ceiling to close the taps to the water mixer, then open up and unscrew the tap (which is different from those old ones with visible screws that are easy to unscrew)... cost us $60... 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
