You mean you use these structured and dual currency deposits to express your views? So you dont trade off the spot or forward FX markets? I use to trade FX a fair bit before 2008 but decided to stop as it kept me too close to the market leaving me always watching the rates. Was exciting, making a frw thousand dollars in a few hours or overnight if the bets were right. and also writing exotic options and playing some crosses. Now i only take real dollar positions in currencies. And use the proceeds for some investments. So far i am still long USDSGD from levels of 1.25, 1.29 and 1.31... The USD is now in fixed income which produces 7% ytm.

Throttle2 Supersonic May 1, 2016 Share May 1, 2016 CFD for spot n small $, dbs ccy pair for large $ large $ Are these done online? I am wondering why there is a need to use Contracts for Difference to do FX? And for that matter why you use a dual currency structures for larger sizes. Whats considered large over there? $5mil? For FX, why not just directly trade spots, forwards and options? ↡ Advertisement
