not sure what happened so hard to judge what is right or wrong... but well if you and your friends feel the shop is not worth the money then it is not worth the money

Not even worth a pinch of salt.

Even if the whole of Singapore no one able to do Honda (other than Kah Motors) I also wont go there.

But then again, a good learning experience to hear someone talk big and boast while not able to do anything.

Anyway TS, you can try AXwerkz Garage. The Mech there is quite famous for Honda Cars.

Changing the same engine is legal, so long as have all the paperwork.

The problem is LTA won't accept a outside workshop job to change engine number, anyway alot of people also change the engine w/o informing LTA,just don't get caught.

AXwerkz was good. Prices are reasonable. First hand experience as I accompanied a friend there for his engine overhaul.

LTA accepts, but documentation has to be done and its very comprehensive.

LTA allows swop of engine to same CC and/or HP only. The engine has to be imported and certified by LTA and Agent of Honda in Singapore (Kah Motors) There are some cars we bought in with the engine number starting LTA123456. Changed by agent.

Normally same CC same HP, ppl just buy and drop in. You can only be caught during inspection if the engine number is not done properly or nicely. On the road, almost impossible unless you drive without a bonnet.

According to what TS says, the top has been overhauled, left the block, I suggest to overhaul the whole engine properly spend once and spend it right (of cos not at that workshop run by Batman's Foe)

Good Luck

frankly i dont know whats so difficult about this project....

its just plug and play.

Yes it is plug and play, the number is the problem.

I got a friend who got problems at inspection for this

"Sign Of Tampered Engine Number"

And now have to get a engine that's scrapped locally to replace else car scrap.

Hey. I am driving an EK 3 VTI for ten over years. It's a good car with 3stages engine. Still in stock condition only gear box slightly noisy at gear 1-3. Yours car chassis is what model. Basic EK civic with no vtec or EG type?

Harness is not easy to find. I got Honda electronic catalog of this car. I can help u by giving u the part number.

Just PM me.

Btw JDM engine is D15B series. Our south east Asia is D15Z7 engine.

Im scrapping my '97 EK3 next week. Great car with fond memories, still running on 5zigen rims, Tokico shocks, kg/mm springs. Super durable, except for the typical annoyances - radiator and aircon need to service frequently.

Mine is D15Z7 engine also. MIF, not JDM. Only difference I know is the 180kph cutoff....I never hit so high before, only 165 with 4 adults....cannot throttle further lol.

Swapping engine is no different from standard overhaul....any workshop worth its salt can do it.....D15 is a very mechanical engine. Don't bother with those 'race-spec' workshops. Just make sure your LTA paperwork is done proper.

And yes, EK technical manual is one of the easiest manual to find online. You be surprised how many KAH mechanics never even seen one before...Mine is a 15yr old copy I bought from US lol. Now online can find the exact one easily. IF you need parts just go Min Ghee or other importers....KAH take from them also...

And yes, every time I go VICOM, first thing they check is always the chasis num and engine num. Covered with dirt they still always scrap off to ensure its authentic haha.

Noticed you mentioned you did top overhaul only? What do you mean fried? Do you constantly got coolant disappearing? IF so looks like your gasket gone already.....do top overhaul no use...

Thanks JCSL, Bicolor, Mirrorimage and the rest

All gave useful information but it is still my duty to verify for myself, or even try and gain from it, or draw a painful lesson, to be shared and digested later on.

I am pretty sure mosy forumers here are eager to help one another, so Cheers man!

This is all just a matter of speculation, but I'd say that BMWs are not inherently costly to hold, if maintained nicely. I did have an problem with the front brakes excessively squealing after the first week or so of use, however I dispatched YourMechanic an email asking if they might address the problem and they did, right away.  They came to my home, replaced the faulty brake pads, and did it fast.

how long do you think they need to come to singapore to check my car?  [:)]

I need to LOL loudly lol, not because you need take sampan here to check our cars, but because you say BMW "not inherently costly to hold". When i was in Germany working, i ask my local colleagues why so few BMWs on the road....they replied "hahaha".

But you are spot on, first week of week got problem already. Thats BMW. Even for our public BMW. Go figure.

Again, LOL.

I apologise again that im rubbishing here, but i LOL so much that i must pen it down.

LOL. Hahaha.
