What is Toyota thinking?

i wonder how much would a toyota cost to the most stripdown barebone

1. two airbag just to meet safety requirement

2. manual aircon and no rear vent

3. manual window (front and back)

4. no leather seat

5. 16" wheel

6. cheapest tyres

7. no led/hid ... pure bulb lights

8. no gps or any fancy electrical devices ... no bluetooth, nothing

pure engine + body + wheel to move ... this will certainly drive up sales? [thumbsup]

but kimchi will eat the sushi for lunch and dinner with better specs and lower price ... lol

Why complain Toyota when the buyers are all willingly buying barebone model ??.

Willing buyer willing seller .. Hehe..

From that logic, I think Toyota should just sell car without airbag.. Recent major airbag recall and cause of injuries and death is definitely a justification for its removal.. Hehehhe...

Agree. I also thought of removing my cars airbags.

i need to open every month or few times a month when pass through immigration

if manual wind down might scare the shit out of the officer as they have not seen a manual wind window for decade ... lol

just like electrical seat ... how many times the driver adjust the seat once it's perfectly settled down especially for single driver

but the point is not the functions how many times being used but the car specs ... it's moving forward and not backward

And Toyota will use that as their selling features to sell their thai made altis $5-$10 more than a jap car like mazda lol.

Only those die hard Toyota fans treat that as good features

I think the one posted by TS is from PI.

It even has the same plastic wheel hubs.

The one from Borneo Motors can't really be found but from its launch it seems to have the powered rear windows.

If PI's selling point is the lower price compared to AD's pricing, the only reason must be the really basic trim or entry model.

The leather seat should be locally fitted.

true, i agree this can save cost as some people just needed the basics for commuting around everyday. But it just shows how toyota save every little cost just to avoid tax and all, as compared to Europe cars, etc volkwagen polo, at least they have all the basic things. just a little disappointed

If Rolex bought over Toyota, these mechanical windows winders are called craftsmanship, state of the art engineering. They'll charge a premium over the electric powered one.

+1. Cars like these are actually very cheap with no features (not even air con) in some countries.

Only in Singapore are we spoilt with electric everything.

Not only that, if car price difference is only $500, it's like cow car wheel to them. Damn big difference to them. Here, if price difference between Forester NA and Forester  XT Turbo is $10,000, people will say small change, go for Turbo; it's only 10K more niah.   :D

Law of relativity is real.
