Extremme 4th Gear February 27, 2016 Share February 27, 2016 I think get a good suction one can alr, plus you will have flexibility in where you'd want to put it. Air vent mount suitable if your are comfortable with where the device is going to be. But best is integrated with car, not need to attach this and that. Can't wait for integrated dashboard to be a industry standard. Integrated is obviously the ideal way but the cumbersome part is unable to update on our own right? ↡ Advertisement

Leonidas76 1st Gear February 27, 2016 Share February 27, 2016 Integrated is obviously the ideal way but the cumbersome part is unable to update on our own right? Hmm I'm not so familiar as of how it works now, need to get a CD-rom / USB from authorized dealer to update? Will most probably incur additional costs as well. What I had in mind was like Tesla Model S, they have over the air (OTA) update, just like your smartphone update like that. Recently they got an autopilot update to give the car self driving function along with autopark. Updates are installed from data connection from car itself. So maps and everything else can be updated also. Some updates cost money though, like the autopilot update costs around 2k, other normal updates should be free. http://www.teslarati.com/tesla-air-software-update-work/ Can't wait for SG to open up to more electric cars and really adopt green tech. It's easier, cleaner as well as more efficient..
JohnRomeo Neutral Newbie February 27, 2016 Share February 27, 2016 I put my Garmin on the windowscreen. Never thought of doing it on the instrument panel though.
Kb27 Supersonic February 27, 2016 Share February 27, 2016 My apology, I'm referring to Garmin gps holder. I'd search here: http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?site=glo&g=y&SearchText=garmin+mount Depending on your garmin model, the standard ball, window suction mount should be good enough. Mercury1 Turbocharged February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 I don't like the GPS being integrated into the instrument cluster, the GPS should be somewhere around eye level so that one won't look away from traffic. most ideal GPS mounts areas IMO are 1. A Pillar or extreme right corner but still within the drivers sight (i.e not needing to look down) - I use a LHD model for example 2. HUD GPS I think get a good suction one can alr, plus you will have flexibility in where you'd want to put it. Air vent mount suitable if your are comfortable with where the device is going to be. elmoguy 2nd Gear February 28, 2016 Author Share February 28, 2016 HUD needs bluetooth connectivity. However the vast majority of devices can only be connected to one paired device at a time. The choice will then be either GPS or Audio or Phone connect?
Mercury1 Turbocharged March 1, 2016 Share March 1, 2016 Well hope it becomes a norm in the future for the manufacturer to integrate into the cars. HUD needs bluetooth connectivity. Vratenza Supersonic March 2, 2016 Share March 2, 2016 DSC_0117.JPG I use this, it's heavy at the base, put at dashboard is quite stable, best is no need scared the suction cap came loose and dropped off or leave permanent suction cap mark if stick to the windscreen under hot sun for too long. You must be a really slow and steady driver. tried the garmin version of this, waste of money, very next turn it start to slide all over the place. ValentinoRyan 1st Gear August 30, 2016 Share August 30, 2016 Looks very messy. A/C vent mount is the simplest but only if your A/C vent is suitably located and structured. I mentioned in a previous thread that i'm using the Koomus mounts for my GPS and mobile. I think most convenient way compared to those "clip" ones are that when u need to use your devices on the go u can just get it secured easily compared to those that require two hands to operate. Funny how it comes with a sticky gel pad separately to increase the adhesive. Have not encounter any "falling" out issue for the past 6-9 months. I park in the open air carpark daily. Quite expensive imo. source : http://www.spere.com.sg/products/brands/koomus/koomus-magnetic-dashboard.html

Marineti Neutral Newbie December 6, 2016 Share December 6, 2016 The best place to mount gps navigation is on the right of the steering wheel. Talking about gps vehicle tracking, the best place to mount is private and secret place, but with ability to get good gps signal. Other option - use external gps antenna. mitchie9779 Neutral Newbie December 7, 2016 Share December 7, 2016 How do you all actually mount your GPS in your car? I wonder how this work, as I don't think any mounting device is that strong. I tried many but most cannot make it and not able to hold the device's weight. 20151221 10.31 107.jpg This actually block the front view. During the night, the display will be reflected onto the front windows at night. This resulted in poor vision. 20151221 10.34 108.jpg This device is not reliable and will drop off when you made a sharp turn. Cabling also an issue. 20151221 10.35 109.jpg This will cause "condensation" on your device and also block the air flow from the AC. 20151221 10.36 110.jpg Your solar film will left with mark with this mounting method. 20151221 10.37 111.jpg Yet to try this magnetic device. But don't think it can hold the weight. 20151221 10.38 112.jpg In board dash hahaha ↡ Advertisement
