In view of today afternoon's attacks in Jakarta, would foresee ICA stepping up their checks once again?

Also jib kor's bodyguards have released statement that " Malaysian police have raised the security alert to the highest level " according to Reuters.

Prepare more kopi lui, and stay safe brothers.

sea of lights are back

can understand especially after istanbul and jakarta attacks [sweatdrop]

Those sea of lights in the screen shots on 14/1 at 2017hrs are daily occurrences... Msians heading home. Tighter security by Spore customs affect only inbound traffic, ie. Those entering Spore.

Went in on Thurs n reached immigration abt 8.30am. Journey is smooth, except for a slow traffic where a SMRT taxi crashed n landed chun chun onto d centre divider block just before d Spore immigration counters. It didn't caused any obstruction as cars can still squeezed thru d two lanes. Return around 4.15pm n journey also smooth. Reached home around 5.15pm. Have a great day. Enjoyed my dim sum in Tmn Daya n my cray fish in Tebrau market. Even managed to find my favourite pineapple tart. Off course, pump full tank. Will make ano trip soon.

I specially like pineapple tart n had bought b4 from one of d recommended confectionery in Tmn Sentosa but not nice. Pastries like eating biscuit. All this while, I have been hunting for one tat taste like those Spore made one where d pastries r more butter taste. Finally, I managed to find last Thur. Try d shop at Mr Sotong @ Jln Keris 1, same row of shop of Ah Soon bkt, just opp Ya Wang roasted duck. It was recommended by my wife's hairdresser. When I was there around 3pm, d sale staff told me sold out but managed to find one bottle for me. It's RM29/bottle.

The other stall that I bought d tart n almond cookies is inside Tebrau market. At this time, there r many stall holders switch to selling CNY goodies. d stall tat I ate d cray fish also sell but I didn't buy from them. I bought from d next store. Reason, few of my companions had sampled different type of cookies n found they r good. A bottle of pineapple tart n almond cookies I bought cost RM22 each and d young lady boss give 10% discount. Best is tat, u can sample as many as u like b4 u decide to buy. I saw one middle age lady bought 50 bottles of different type of cookies.

Both tarts bought at Mr Sotong n d market r equally good. But taste is subjective n different ppl got different taste bud. But since, I often go into JB, why don't I try getting there. In Spore, a bottle of tart can easily cost any thing from S$12-16. I will be going in soon to get d tarts n also my favourite kueh lapis

What started as a "warning" thread has turned out to a sharing of where to buy CNY goodies thread [:p] . Besides sharing an interest in cars, drivings etc, we all love good and reasonably priced food. #sosingaporean

Yep, Malacca pineapple tart is my top favourite, esp d one in Jonker Street. Troublesome go otw there. So happy with next best. Kueh lapis, I prefer our bengawan solo. But since I am going JB, settle for next best which is Lavendar. A bit drier than Bengawan. Any bro know is there a begawan solo kueh lapis shop in JB?

pineapple tarts and other CNY snacks - any shop in and around Jonker street area. There's a shop I  usually buy from but I don't know the name of the shop.. I see it and I know it LOL

best to go two weeks before CNY... if only one week before, high chance that the popular shops are sold out.

other nice place is Baba Charlie's nonya kuih shop
