Hello, i recently booked a Subaru Impreza 4D. The sales person shared that Motor Image management has removed CarPlay and Android Auto from all the cars with no reason given. Can someone please share why it would be removed?. I like the car but with a CarPlay or Android Auto would make a great addition and experience. Sorry if this has already been discussed under the topic.

They swapped it with their own media player. Not very fancy though.

I have written to them to find out if they can make exceptions to add in CarPlay. Hopefully they can.

We sincerely apologize for not being able to accede to your request.

 

Please note that there is a free upgrade to the head unit. The main advantages of the Panasonic Head Unit are that it comes with a built-in Navigation unit that provides turn by turn directions even after losing GPS signal (e.g. MCE & KPE tunnels). Also the head unit will come with additional features such as HDMI Input, DVD playback, WebLink and Android Mode.

 

You may refer to attached quick reference guide.

The Panasonic Head Unit give several functions that our customers have been asking for such as built in Navigation.

 

Please note that your warranty does not cover:-

 

·         Use of imitation, counterfeit or non-genuine parts, accessories or equipment installed out of Motor Image or Subaru’s works.

·         Any alteration, modification, tampering, disconnection or improper adjustment that is out of Subaru’s Factory Specification.

It seems to me that all these 3 are the same. They just simply "copy" the stuff from your phone to the screen.

It is quite useless in the sense apart from making your screen beautiful.

 

Personally I feel the best thing about having Android Auto is to use Google assistant to read out and reply text/whatsapp.

In fact, there are many Apps that can read out and reply text/whatsapp etc. As most vehicles don't come with Apple Car Play or Android, Auto, the money spent to change the Head Unit is not worth after all. Moreover, the location of most Head Unit is not at eye level which makes it pointless when come to navigation.

Yes, but with AA you can touch on the screen when you want to let it read out, not when you receive the text which other apps does.

 

I agree with you on the navigation. I have a separate device just for Waze, near the IU.

The reason they did not provide you is to lower their cost of the car brought in by MI.

The main reason for AA and CP is to integrate your phone and your personalize setting into the car's infotainment system which means you are able to use the phone and other specific functions while on the move. Some manufacturers are also using smartphones as the key or to remote access the vehicle functions.

Bro, Are they reliable when purchase the head unit? As my only fear are the following?

 

1) Will item come in time?

2) Where to installed?

3) What is your review after installed?
