I was thinking along that line for a sim router but hold back the idea since connectivity to goggle nest might pose an issue for my residential. No straight forward like using fiber broadband plug and play.

It should be no different from connecting to any router.

I'm not familiar with google nest. But it appears to be a bunch of smart devices connected to a network. With a SIM router, you can also connect them to the network via LAN ethernet or wifi. The SIM card acts like the fibre broadband, albeit the bandwidth is lower.

Imo, it's good enough for two 4k video streams and web browsing simultaneously. If you're doing other bandwidth intensive stuff, then it'll not be good enough.

OK. Will get one from shopee to try it out then. 😁

Update in a week or two times.

I'd suggest a 4G+ router with wifi 6 .

They are a good match and not too expensive.

An update. Thanks to the members here.

Gotten one of this router instead to test out own residential. Slot in one of the eight.com sim card.

All good and well. Managed to connect up all the devices; mobile, tablets, laptop, desktop, camera, fridge, TV,  vacuum..... The most important Google Nesthub. Yes, it work seamlessly..

Cancelled all m1 broadband with different effective dates.  Now awaiting for the rest of routers to arrive.

🫡 all good.

MR105, lower-end version, but good find.

Should work well for normal  usage. 😁

I reckon that the $5 Simba data-only plan is the most important for lowering cost, as this is recurring payment. Get a few  cheap 4G routers, spread it around with additional $5 SIMs to mitigate the 300GB limit.

Most of us don't really need a fibre plan, at  even the lowest speed of 500Mbps, is a bit of overkill.

my M1 is due soon, not sure should i recontract with them.

M1 pricing is not very competitive, i would say their network is stable so far without any disruption so far.

other companies package is below 30 for where M1 is around 40.

i am looking at whizcomm, viewquest and myrepublic.

not sure how is their support and network stability.

Thanks

I think for home broadband from M1, Singtel and Starhub their price not attractive at all. Network stable or not, i don't know. But service from these teleco definitely no good when you have issue. I have super bad experience with starhub.

I just re-contracted, going from 1G to 2.5G and saving $2/month but, yeah, still just under $40 but I've not had any outage. I now get 1.5G WiFi at home with their WiFi-7 supplied router. I didn't need any hassle with re-terminating and scheduling new engineer etc.

Since I do a fair amount from home, stability is key so I didn't risk it, though WC we had many years ago, also was okay at the time.
