Blacksnow 4th Gear July 6, 2016 Share July 6, 2016 To share my experience on "other" brands... Few years back, i bought a 5 yrs old kia rio. Many says korean no good. The only major i had was aircon, spent 1k there. However, jap car owner had similar issues. Now driving orlando, spacious, good price, only that 10yrs equivalent tco comparable to kia carens 1.7 crdi. However, foe big sized family orlando wins. Small nits n nugs issues which i do not believe it does not happen for other cars This current korea can drive 6 packs on full 2.1 tonnes load from SG to Genting to Cameron highland to port dickson then back SG. No sign of heavy climbing except it took more effort to climb genting. Plasticy interiors...from feedback of forums, seems many cars below 130k today are moving to such interior....look at feedback at civic thread. FOr me, i am happy with my chevrolet orlando where the final price is few percent of the pricelist and do not need to take loan, saving another few k off interest to offset possible unreliable korean episode. By the way, chevrolet orlando could be a true american made in korea.....compared to optra generation. I do have friends driving optra,2 in fact., no major issues as well. I guess risk profile of everyone is different... Your English gave Capt America cancer
Bismarck Turbocharged July 6, 2016 Share July 6, 2016 Last yr when I went to the showroom, the SE recommended wish instead of avanza cos wish cos interms of quality and specs wish better. I think avanza and mobilio was designed for Indonesia's market? I sat on Avanza twice before in Indonesia and I think it is quite a decent car for them in small roads at low speed. The interior nothing to crow about, cheap plasticky and simple. Space is decent for 4 pax. Other than that I think it should stick to Indonesia market than come to Singapore But if compare to a China car I rather take this

For crying out loud, you still need to open driver's side window and slowly pinch the radio antenna out of the A-pillar! (see picture) Shows that if you put a Toyota badge on a tractor, people will still think it's good.

Heartlander Turbocharged July 7, 2016 Share July 7, 2016 New Nissan Serena (available in Japan from end August) I like the design, but the height at 1.865m would mean more carparks that its owner cannot enter.
Carbon82 Moderator July 7, 2016 Share July 7, 2016 I like the design, but the height at 1.865m would mean more carparks that its owner cannot enter. All the boxy type and large MPV (Toyota Triplet, Stepwgn, Biante, Alphard, Vellfire & Elgrand) have height of 1.8m to 1.95m, they don't have any issues accessing most of the multi-storey / basement carpark, since height limit is generally around 2.0 - 2.1m. Only some older MSCP (probably <5% of the total carpark in Singapore) have a lower height limit of 1.8 - 1.9m.

For my family, there are quite a number of places we go where the carparks are 1.8m. That is why we ended up with a smaller MPV instead of the alphard that we were considering. I guess, those who buy needs to do research and see the height limit of the carparks they frequent.

There are several 1.8m height car parks that the triplets can enter. But its still drivers beware of course.

Carbon82 Moderator July 7, 2016 Share July 7, 2016 You Is this a facelift or a brand new model do you know? How different is it from the current/outgoing model? This is a brand new model (6th generation if I am not wrong), with a distinctive model code C27 (current JDM unit sold by T8 is C26 version). In term of size, seems like slighting shorter (but in line with other boxy MPV from Japan). Engine spec not available yet, but as with the current trend, expect some improvement in fuel consumption and CO2 emission (probably 5 - 10% from outgoing model).

True true... Think Serena maybe only sell <50? in SGP? Cater to this, surely chap 11 soon... How come Jap basement/MSCP the height not like here so low leh? We have limited land so cannot built big, but little bit higher would have been good, right? ↡ Advertisement
