I'm also looking for Toyota Wish, it have more leg room for at 3rd row, decent FC around 14km/L and cost around $110k now.

Is there alternative model that can match the Wish in space, FC and yet price is around $110k that i could be miss out.

Shuttle nice looking but not 7-seater and Jade is only 6 seat.

Looking for more option...

Mobilio has almost Wish kind of FC n space but still abit lacking. Price is definitely cheaper than Wish for sure but inside plasticky but a practical pt A to B people mover nevertheless.

Hope owners of Mazda 5 can help out with this question.

Is the sliding door manual or battery operated?

For MPVs with battery operated sliding door, would this shorten the car's battery lifetime?

I am on the search for 7 seater mpv. Few notable choices stand out for consideration

Toyota sienta x - 96k thereabouts

Chevrolet orlando - 99.8k (today advertisement)

Opel zafira tourer - 119.8k (today advertisement)

Citroen grand picasso - 118k thereabout (last month advert)

Although not all 4 are exactly comparable, but each had their appealing points for a 7-seater hunter in me.

You have done your home work [thumbsup]  I won't list Voxy, Biante, etc because these are more van type. There are a few more that are also worth considering

Renault Grand Scenic

Kia Caren

Mazada 5

Toyota Wish

Honda Mobilio

Honda Freed

Instead of worrying the car battery. You should worry about the sliding door motor. That is the killer parts.

Hi TS, so have you make your decision after so much input?

For those are still searching for the right MPV, I would suggets the following steps to help with your selection.

1) Define your needs and priority (e.g. space, performance, running / maintenance cost, budget, etc.)

2) Shortlist 3 - 5 and head towards the show room to check them out physically (spec and photos can be misleading)

3) If you need to carry any barang barang in your MPV, try to bring them along to test if it fit into the car decently

4) For those that are cost conscious (neow like me), do factor in trade-in price, CEVS rebate/surcharge, etc. to work out annual depreciation

5) Last narrow down to 2 - 3 and let your CO and heart decide. No such thing as best buy, but better buy (meeting most of your requirement).

Happy shopping. [flowerface]  [flowerface]

When original Stream came out around 2000 came out it attracted some buyers

But when original Wish came out in 2003, Stream almost stopped selling immediately - such was the success of the first Wish.

Then when 2G Stream came out around 2006, people were a little tired of the Wish, and so 2G Stream did sell more than the by-then old Wish, which was a facelift. Credits to the 2G Stream because the styling was a good fight to the Wish (unlike the original Stream which lost out flat).

Then came 2G Wish in 2009, which again gained back significant market share for the compact MPV segment.

I felt that the 2G Stream was at least a worthy competitor to the Wish.

But Mobilio… my own view is that it doesn't even come close to Wish, and it's quite a disappointment from Honda. Strange that Stream's successor cannot match up to Stream...

There is no perfect brand/model. while we do all these analysis, manufacturers are also doing the same when they price their products. Once the CC is down, like most cars that are supposed to be 2 litre but downgraded to 1.5 for singapore, performance such as pick up suffers.

Yes, diesel maybe able to save you on fuel cost but I think maintenance and tax also increase. So, depending on your traveling style and usage, there is no single advantage.

From the list above, my personal preference is Kia Caren (diesel) for the look, follow by Sienta for the practical interior design. How I wish they have a Caren exterior with Sienta interior (seating arrangement). :a-aggressive:

agreed, I driving a used 2G Stream, like the design and the handling.

Mobilio was design with the Indo market in mind, do really like the look where as the Jade (Stream successor) was targeted for the Chinese market, that's why only 6 seater.

Mobilo is for Indonesians lol.

Anyway these vehicles I don't think are tested at the ncap or iihs level.

Look at mazda5 crash test scores at iihs. Quite poor. U can have airbags and seat belts but if the shell of the car can't stand up to impact, all these don't help. Unfortunately there's no South East Asian ncap equivalent testing. I suspect most of these entry level mpvs will fair very poorly on side impact and roof strength

I will see how it goes in another year or two, if COE stil maintain at $40k+ to $50k+, than will renew COE for another 5yrs and drop in the Skunk Stage 2 CAM
