I don't think Toyota Triplet, Honda Stepwgn Nissan Serena are based on van platform. FYI, Toyota and Nissan also has commercial van based people carriers in the product lineup.

I could be wrong that they are. It's purely based on personal view as the Serena looks so much alike to NV200, and also for the triplets, I've seen Noah written on the back of Liteace before.

Had never seen any Honda van so couldn't link the step wagon to any van...

oh ..cool ...u planning to buy it ? its a rare mpv to have it...

It is definitely one of my top choice. But the price from them very stiff.. haha.. guess cause reputated dealer. And keen to test drive the Caddy first.

Think for that price, pretty decent for the specs. And pretty decent is an understatement.

Some more 17inch wheels. Now issue is OMV

I cannot recall any van having alcantera leather seats, 17" wheels, and leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob. Not so bad lah. The seats cannot fold flat but still very spacious for carrying things round with its wheel base of 3.008m and 4.878m overall length.

Have. All these are options. But most people won't buy vans with all those options. I have driven a company van which had all those stuff you mentioned. I guess cuz the boss regularly drives the van also. Even his trucks also full leather interior

You are wrong. They are standard features on Caddy Maxi.

How I wish my ride come standard with 17" wheels and have alcantara leather..

Agree very much that the ride will still feel like a van. Read that it was based on Golf, subsequently Touran that is why the front is almost identical. Anyway it is just another option for some. Surely those keen will test drive since it is so much cheaper, yet with such impressive feature list. The dashboard design also very quality, not reminding people of a van. Something got to give.

And for those who could park their ride beside their houses, the 2nd and 3rd row seats could be removed if necessary to provide flat cargo space.

Yeah, Caddy shares the same platform as Golf...but Golf Mk5! Other parts are shared with previous generation Touran. I just checked Wikipedia entry on this.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Caddy

Wish they could update the Caddy with VW's new MQB platform.

I have a quick check on the web.

Current Serena is on the same platform as the Sylphy, while NV200 is sharing same platform as the truck.

Toyota LiteAce Noah is a different vehicle from Noah. To be more precise, the former is derives from LiteAce cargo van to create a new people carrier below Estima (in the 90s). After the success of the LiteAce Noah, Toyota decided to launch a new MPV, known as Noah in ~2000 - 2001, which is not related to LiteAce Noah. Today, the Noah (and Voxy) is already in it 3rd generation.

Standard cuz you pay more? Lol. How am I wrong? The commercial version can also have all these. The option is there. But they have the cheaper option available for commercial vehicles cuz that is what most people want for a commercial vehicle.

I think you are trying very hard to put this ride down. In my opinion, this ride is not classified as commercial car, but a passenger car, this itself is already something that those commercial ride loses out greatly. The previous cargo version already cost $100k, with goods vehicle registration plate.

Anyway, this ride is not for everyone.

The video is only for those who understand mandarin. Very informative and frank assessment of the car. The last 2 minutes are interesting.

Not putting it down. Just stating the facts. I quite like this van but the one that my relative has is the van which he registered as passenger car and installed the seats seperately cuz I think in the past they didn't bring in this model. Cheaper that way also.

No one is playing the Caddy down. IMO, I have to agree that it is derived from a commercial vehicle, just like LiteAce, NV200, Kangoo, Berlingo, Partner, Citan, etc. Nothing wrong with the approach, as long as the buyer get what they want (mainly space and lower cost than most passenger car derived MPV).

However, do not expect passenger car kind of comfort, quality and features. Again, I am not saying that such people carriers are bad, but think about it this way. When you travel in say those HiAce mini bus, the way the door close, the ride comfort and fit / finishing, etc. will never be the same as say Alphard / Vellfire. HiAce can still be customized / ordered with option such as leather seat, auto door, factory fitted GPS system, etc. but the more you add to the car, the closer the price gap to a true blue MPV. I guess that is what some forumers here are trying to high light.

From a car buyer perspective, I welcome more choices, the Caddy & Citan inclusive. :)

Got manual and diesel. But looks like AD won't bring in. Not popular in Sg. Almost all the VWs should have diesel and manual option.

Are you sure commercial caddy or other van can equip with 17 inch alloy wheels together with other options? then how they going to pass the annual inspection with it? I was told even if you fitted a set of original alloy rims from VW (same size), sure will fail inspection.

The only option VW & citroen gave me is the colour of the vans, there is no "so call" of your option list when choosing. They even can't fit original foglights on it!

Being there, done that. they sell as what it is for vans. That is why there is a version for personal carrier.

Self/parallel import. AD don't do it but these are all options from VW.

Try out these links to get a feel of what can be done to the Caddy in other part of the world. 17" rim is one of the option. Sad to say, as our market is too small for most car manufacturer, we are to get what are provided by the AD or factory. But if you are a serious buyer, there are other ways things can be done to your wish (PI is one of them, else can indent the vehicle through the AD).
