In fact, only when I was invited to visit my friend's hometown of Semarang, then did I googled about it. The invite came just as Singapore was enveloped in haze last month & was informed by my friend that his hometown is free of it. It's also known as Thousand Doors building & haunted by the ghosts of prisoners tortured & killed by the Japs. Well known popular tourist attraction; Sam Poh Kong Temple. Has to pay entrance fees. Got to see to believe....this new residential area cum hip place to be.......sori, no pics because I wasn't driver & it was night time. The houses (or rather, mansions, villas) are so huge & opulent, those in our D10 paled in comparison. Lobby Separate, air conditioned reception area for tourists to purchase entrance tickets. Free cold/hot beverages for tourists before security clearance. Ideal time to view sunrise would be 4am.
