Renault Fluence 1.5 dci

I know the feeling. Had evaluated the Fluence along with 4 others, including K3 and Suzuki Ciaz. Suzuki came very close, but the feel of driving the Fluence was unmatched. 7 months on, I am a happy camper and loving every moment of it (including that once every month or so trip to Smart Energy for the cheap fill-up).

Was thinking of either getting Kia K3, Nissan Qashqai or Renault Fluence. Kia K3 seems to be the best of all 3 in term of value for money while Qashqai is the trend for Cross over. However, after much consideration and assessment, my heart goes to Fluence. I am currently driving an 8 years old plus Renault Megan and I would say the reliability is not bad for a French car. I test drove the Fluence and it is quiet and it has that conti feel. My family also like the car a lot and it will be good for long road trip as we travel to Malaysia very often. Will be collecting my car this Sun and can't wait to get it.

Neutral Newbie

Hearsay caltex diesel is one of better grade fuel and has stick to it since day one. My mileage already hit 9k+ but still hover around 15km/L probably of 50/50 city highway. Anyway still happy with it. One lobang is to pump at caltex changi- pump $30 diesel and pay by either cash or net, you get $3 discount and then 17% off, that work out to about $0.9 per litre with current list price of $1.2. Quite worth and not sure which other outlet has the same offer. NTUC PLUS card still can collect LINKS points.

Current price is $0.88/litre (http://www.smartenergy.sg) after member discounts. Need to buy a $5 membership card the first time and top up with cash as needed (within the station). If you stay in Woodlands/Bt Panjang/CCK or AMK/Hougang West areas it's probably worth it.

Hi fellow fluence owner. I've been driving my fluence since 2011. We have a Renault car group in fb. https://www.facebook.com/groups/rccmembers/

We also have a fluence chat gp in there. Join us where we can share more tips on this car :)

Hi sent in my request.

Should black out the aluminum insert on the dash area, too much reflections on a bright day.

U mean the silver portion on the dashboard? Didn't find it reflective during the test drive. Is it that bad?

Megane 4 launching soon.

It will be launched in Jan 17 motor show. It's the hatchback version according to my SE. Edited by Jimmyjes

My bet is that they will officially launch the Hatch during the upcoming Singapore Motorshow in January.

Flagship Performance Variant

1.6 turbopetrol GT with 205hp and a 7-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) gearbox. This one's pretty cool since it'll come equipped with 4Control or their four wheel steering system. Supposed to give the GT sharper handling.

Standard Everyday Variant

1.2 turbopetrol OR 1.5 turbodiesel GT-line variant with 130hp/7-speed EDC gearbox or 110hp/6-speed EDC gearbox respectively. This one will probably have all the aesthetic bells and whistles of the GT line but a more bread & butter drivetrain. More show, less go?

Based on the dropdown list in the Fuel Cost Calculator on onemotoring.com, all 3 variants listed above have been homologated so it'll be interesting to see which ones Wearnes eventually chooses to launch.

I have a Megane 1.5 dci and originally bought it on impulse. I bought it because at that price i could have all the options of a luxury car without having to pay a cent more. Honestly if u bought a Mercedes A class or even the C class, it's just the shell and badge. Nothing inside is leather all other features are options u have to pay. My megane all in, came with full leather, GPS m, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and keyless option is great. U walk near ur car or away and unlocks and locks. No need to even put ur hand near sensor. Keyless stop and go. Camera and tinted glass all in. And the whole process of buying was exclusive unlike a meat market at luxury brands where if u buy entry level it's like a meat market. Have driven car for 2.5 years - absolutely no problem at all!! I pump diesel once every 5 weeks about 800 km and city driving a lot of stop and go. Only $50 plus. Torque is delivered even at low rpm so always feel very powerful. Air con no problem.
