Consumer Reports: Best and Worst Car Brands 2015

I'm not surprised about the most disliked car. I've had the misfortune of buying two as company cars when I used to work elsewhere. Damn cheap yes... but terrible mileage and maintenance. Broke down too often vs the Sunny's which we had replaced with the Rio as cars for the salesmen.

I've had one - it was probably the most raw fun car I've ever had 'cos I wasn't worried about stuffing it (come to think of it, I should've been more afraid for my own safety, but I've never had that much of a self-preservation instinct. :D). Made sure I bought a manual for cheapness and extra fun. Basically learnt to shift perfectly without the clutch, so got my heel toe right down pat. And it had no ABS or TC whatsoever so it forced me to learn some car control, even if it was an underpowered FWD.

So I wouldn't call it a misfortune for me, by any means. :D

Not sure if you got the station wagon for your speed trials... but thats what I did for the salesmen... so maybe that extra wheelbase and weight colours my opinion a bit.

Ours was a manual as well... but from what I remember, the steering was vague and the suspension was overly soft. The brake had no bite :D you had to keep pressing and somewhere halfway... it'll jerk and screech to a stop. The gearbox... I really don't remember. But... I still remember how nice the gearbox in my 1958 Fiat 1100 was or the one in my 1990 Fiat/Lada/Premier 118NE... so I reckon the one in the Kia Rio was forgettable.
