Cheefarn 5th Gear September 1, 2016 Share September 1, 2016 Chevrolet and Opel are brands under GM... they share everything... just not sure if platform same or not. But I think so. Yes pretty much everything. You just pay more for Opel's brand Eg, Chevy Malibu (current Gen 8)= Opel Insignia=the Saab 95 before GM kills off the brand. Same chassis, suspension, brakes, GB, engine bay layout. Malibu is the biggest of them all though. Opel 2L T can also be found in North America Malibu, with an even high power o/p. It is just that GM chose not to include that 2L T for export markets Malibu... Hence we got the rental fleet 2.4L LE9 instead. Not a bad engine, can take E85 gashol by default. New Opel Astra= upcoming new Chevy Cruze. Same 1.4T, GB, chassis etc... http://www.chevrolet.com/cruze-compact-car.html https://youtu.be/6N35xB_N2Ug
