Boringchap Turbocharged September 28, 2015 Share September 28, 2015 (edited) I have been reading up on Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent visit to the USA. Very fascinating. At least the leaders of the two most powerful countries in the world are shaking hands and holding joint press conferences, even if China refuses to concede anything on the South China Sea issue. President Xi's first stop was not Washington DC, but Seattle. Here is a video of his arrival. The Presidential plane looks to be a commercial charter - Air China, I think a Boeing 747-400. You can even see the Star Alliance sign next to the aircraft door. President and Mrs Xi arrive in Seattle, USA. During his visit to Boeing, President Xi announced US$38 billion worth of orders for Boeing Aircraft, from China. It is widely expected that China will surpass USA as Boeing's most important customer in a few years. Some more pictures of President Xi's tour of the Boeing factory. Private tour. President Xi on stage. President Xi getting a momento from Boeing. Looks like a framed photograph of his arrival. I think they use the same metal for this photo frame, as they use for aircraft. Simple but very neat. In Seattle, Mr Xi met top American executives, including leaders of Microsoft and Boeing. His plane landed at Paine Field, adjacent to Boeing's manufacturing base. To set itself apart, Microsoft gave President Xi a special tour and exhibition of Microsoft HQ, and this included a banquet where Chief Executive Satya Nadella and co-founder Bill Gates could be found sitting near Mr Xi or his trusted aide. I don't know who that Chinese man beside Bill Gates is, but he must be somebody very important to President Xi. Actually, Zuck wanna meet Xi for his own benefit lah...his FB is still being blocked in China. Apparently, he is desperate to get into Mainland market. Xi's plane is a normal China Airline B747 which is over 15 years old - based on Boeing's public record under reg B-2472. Unlike US Presidents with their assigned AF-1 flight, China's presidential flights will have a 747 norma cabin converted to 4 sections. One of which is to allow VIP area and meeting. Yslim79 4th Gear September 28, 2015 Share September 28, 2015 (edited) Part of the Boeing deal involves a new plant setup in China which sparks many debates ... I guess China economy is too lucrative for US businesses to give a miss but they still have to keep it under control ... Politically and also for job protection wise ... As usual anti China have always been one of the cried topics for presidential elections ... One of the interesting comments from Trump previously... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/aug/25/donald-trump-id-get-xi-jinping-mcdonalds-hamburger/ Edited September 28, 2015 by Yslim79

He is Head of the General Office of the CCP Central Committee, Li Zhanshu. Both Xi and him know each other since 1980s. His Chinese name 栗战书 literally translated "Book of War". https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-sg/%E6%A0%97%E6%88%98%E4%B9%A6
Viceroymenthol 6th Gear September 28, 2015 Share September 28, 2015 Xi and a few other Chinese CEOs look good standing next to the ang mohs, cos they are about the same height. Looks better than that dwarf Tony Tan anyway (when he visited the UK). Jack Ma is really short, though. This proves that a good height is compulsory for a leader. Just ask RadX!

Boringchap Turbocharged September 28, 2015 Author Share September 28, 2015 (edited) Fast forward to President Xi's visit to the capital. See this movie and slideshow. President Obama says "干杯!" Always good to see the two superpowers of the world at peace, even if they don't agree on everything. Guests dined on wild mushroom soup, Maine lobster, Colorado lamb and poppyseed bread-and-butter pudding. Some of their guests. Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla. They sat at the head table. Henry Kissinger and wife. Mr Kissinger came to Singapore for Mr Lee Kuan Yew's funeral. Check out Obama's cheeky grin as he toasts Mrs Xi. Lala81 Hypersonic September 28, 2015 Share September 28, 2015 (edited) Neither was Napoleon.... nor the Japanese Emperor. napoleon is not really very short contrary to popular belief. the europeans that time weren't that tall as well, as they didn't eat very well. he's 1.68m tall. not the shorty commonly portrayed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_complex Edited September 28, 2015 by Lala81
