Yapcc 2nd Gear March 25, 2017 Share March 25, 2017 I think it's a steal at this price. Don't forget you are getting the turbo version, not the underpowered 1.6l. It's a Cat B COE for this price. I'm driving one now, exactly a year old. Also the 1.4 turbo version. If you can overlook the hard plastics inside the interior, it's actually a pretty good family car. No issues for maintenance and servicing is free for 5 years, so you are well covered. I average about 9 litres /100 km based on my trip computer. I travel only about 10% highway. Not the most economical but the savings in fuel don't add up much unless you travel long distances daily. I like Alpine Motors for their good service. Appointments are easily available. Mine is a 2nd Cruze I've owned and am happy with the car so far.

From the reviews ive seen online, it seems to lose out to its competitors due to the more vertical seats. Is it comfortable for people around 1.7-1.8m? Yapcc 2nd Gear March 26, 2017 Share March 26, 2017 @nomoreheadphonejack Rear space is definitely not the best in its class, but its quite adequate. I'm 1.7m and when seats are adjusted to my height, I still have ample space at the back seats to stretch my legs. Also, what is lacking is a rear air con vent, which some cars have as standard feature. I suggest you go for a test drive. What drew me to get the Cruze was its overall refinement for the kind of price. I got my current ride after the second bid, so they don't have this nonsense of topping extra money to have guaranteed COE. That is something I find important as I don't like hidden clauses. If they sense you are genuine, they will do whatever they can to get you to sign, meaning additional discounts.
Xtrah 3rd Gear March 27, 2017 Share March 27, 2017 Current model Cruze.. on Timing Belt still... take note. Maybe wait for next model... My 2014 Cruze 1.4T runs on timing chain instead of timing belt. And all cruze turbo should be on timing chain. Unless you refering to 1.6/1.8 cruze? Then its still on timing belt. Xtrah 3rd Gear April 3, 2017 Share April 3, 2017 Hi all, My Chevrolet Cruze 1.6 year 2010 is facing a Engine Fauly light. Not only that, the gear box couldn't engage Reverse too. and Drive can only go up to gear 3.. Anyone out there facing the same issue can share? Well, if you have your your own car workshop and does not want to return to the agent (Probably car out of warranty), go online to buy a ODB2 adapter and get those mobile apps such as Torque. You will be able to read the error codes while running the diagnostic in Torque apps. Then get your car workshop to verify the same to fix it. Yapcc 2nd Gear April 3, 2017 Share April 3, 2017 This seems to be a common issue according to the service advisors in Alpine Motors. Agree that you should just send it back to the agent to have a proper check. Read in other Cruze forums that this can be a sign of gearbox failure which will require replacement of the entire gearbox.

Yapcc 2nd Gear April 12, 2017 Share April 12, 2017 Thanks for sharing! Are you driving one or looking to purchase one? Yes I am driving one now. It's the current 1.4T model.
Spango Clutched April 12, 2017 Share April 12, 2017 Cannot, because the high-beam is achieved by just raising a cover in the headlight assembly for the light to shine upwards, and it takes time for HID light to warm up to maximum brightness. The current Cruze comes with halogen headlights and LED day running lights. Not sure if the halogen lights can be upgraded to HID via conversion kit. Anyone? Yapcc 2nd Gear April 13, 2017 Share April 13, 2017 I think it's tough to judge reliability just with 1 year of ownership. Actually any cars you buy (except for perhaps China-made ones) should be relatively problem free for the first 3 years. I owned a 1.6l Cruze for about 3 years before switching to the 1.4T. In fact, I almost got the Mazda 3 but stopped short only when the sales person refused to waive off the extra $2k for the red colour. Even though that car had some annoyances, none were that major to cause the car to stall on the road. I also read of reputable Japanese brands suffering from issues, so that is why I said that based on the price you pay, it is a reasonable purchase. I bought knowing what I may encounter. At the very least, Alpine Motors addressed all my complaints for my previous 1.6l Cruze, so I thought that was something important knowing that I still can go back to the agent should there be any issues.
Xtrah 3rd Gear April 27, 2017 Share April 27, 2017 (edited) Anyone knows where to get a similar type of Window visor for 2014 Cruze 1.4T such as the WeatherTech brand? Its a slot in type instead of those stick on outside using 3m. Edited April 27, 2017 by Xtrah ↡ Advertisement
