Yup, my gps voice is off all along to avoid any distort on my Fm radio whenever it speak. But now i face another problem is whenever i start my gps, i cannot listen on usb song (regardless you off the gps anot), i will need to restart my car engine before i can listen to my usb song again. Quite disappointing, another thing how long you guys chevy gps take to get signal when you out from shelter area. Mine can take up to 30min before get any signal =_=.

I haven't encountered this issue yet. As for GPS lock, yes, lately it seem to take longer time to get a signal. I suspect it's due to cloudy weather. When I first got my car in April, it had no such problem.

I will try to see if my navigator will affect mp3 playback. You saved your music to a usb drive right?

Is it really that difficult to make a decision?

Can you really hear both the music and voice navigation at the same time? Try asking your gf and wife to talk at the same time. [laugh]

Which do you use more often? Music or Voice navigation? The voice navi will cut in on every instruction regardless.

You can only listen to one at a time anyway.

FYI the HU can play music video that's 360p. So you can download the mp4 music video file in 360p format and play it on the touch screen via usb thumb drive. I'm talking about youtube.

If you are using firefox web browser get the add-on that is able to download the music video to mp4 format. Choose the 360p format.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-youtube/

As for the gps go to the settings to find out the filename for Sgp & M'sia map and download from malfreemap.com . You need to register as member to DL the map for free. I haven't tried this though as I do not drive into M'sia but I do have an account with malfreemap. Got time dan try.

Thanks for the tip! I finally know how to make the videos work. Haven't been able to figure that out since my last 2013 Cruze.

This is a bug, close the navi app and launch again. If it doesn't work, turn off the entire system, wait for a min and on again.

Those are sources from the US version. The Cruze we get here are from South Korea.

I'm not saying that Chevy cars have great build quality and reliability, but I guess cars nowadays have their own fair share of issues. I guess the important thing is that the dealer must acknowledge that their vehicles may not be perfect and honor the warranty if its still valid.

Read sgcarmart and various sources. I really have doubts about its reliability. Normally. The consensus is random things will spoil Edited by Friendstar

Well, i'm a good example. Driving a 2 years old 2014 cruze 1.4T, with no problem.

Mine is running on chips with 180hp and 250Nm torque. Can outrun those small size 1.4T VW easily. With all the aggressive driving, the car reliability is good and the parts are still in good condition.

If you service the car by following the car manual service interval, the car will serve you well.

Well I agree if you service according to the manual, it should have no problem. My last 2013 1.6 Cruze was a lemon and had my fair share of random problems. Things like failing electric windows, engine fan sensor (code 89) and the bad luck of drained battery after a year (happened twice). I bought in June 2013 but the log card stated date of manufacture was December 2012. So I guessed I bought an old stock (even though it was the 2014 face-lift edition).

Still, those did not deter me from going back to Chevy again. My current 2016 1.4T is serving me well. I'm happy with the power and quiet interior. Love the fact that engine vibration is minimal, to the fact that at times I can only feel the air con fan blowing.

Xtrah, how do you go about the mod? Does it affect fuel economy severely? I think it's probably going to void warranty.

Well, its easy and you can DIY. Total cost less than SGD 500.

When going back to AD for service, just revert back the changes. After the car servicing, install it back.

Yes. It will void warranty. Do at your own risk. But the tuner have done several through test in several condition before they release the mod.

Anyway, the GM engine is solid built and built to last. My last GM engine clocked more than 250K KM and its still going strong.

If you intend to go ahead, I can PM you the details.

Actually vw are very moddable and many are. 180hp is nothing to a 1.4 jetta with decent mods. My car has more than 180hp but i will never dare to chiong with a fully mod jetta here. You are probably bullying those stock ones whom are not even trying.

I fully agreed with you. Those are stock VW.

180hp is just a stage 0 mod. Purely stock except engine mod. No other mods such as air intake, exhaust etc.

It is good for NSHW drive therefore it is recommenced.

Let say compare with both cars and who do you go with mods? Which car will fail prematurely?

Can the DCSG takes the full throttle with aggressive driving daily? But the conventional 6 speed auto will do it without fail. It is proven.

Which gearbox is more expensive to replace? Can it be DIY upgrade and not relying on workshop to tune and detune during AD servicing?

That is why I choose to buy Cruze instead of VW due to the failure of 7 speed dry gearbox in VW for 1.4 models if modded.

I just get my chevy 3 days ago... Need some help on how to use the gps and listen music from usb at the same time.. Is it normal after using gps, I cannot hear music from usb?

I can finally confirm that you can play music from USB and use the GPS concurrently. Tested this yesterday and best of all, the music doesn't get cut off when the GPS voice is speaking.

By the way, anyone realise you can change the GPS voice? They even have the navigation in Hokkien!
