Any changes in wind direction will again bring the haze back to us.

Like I said, haze will still come back. Looks like we still have to suffer for another 3 more weeks.

true power is when total embargo on APP

absolutely no business for APP and its directors and shareholders

agree!

I think our gahmen is sending a very serious message to APP and others..... that its business now, dun pray pray anymore!

and I really hope this action does not only stops here with NTUC, but all other retails giants to join in and not only here in silypore but to the affected regions as well (guess I'm asking too much) . . . .

seriously, I really look forward to see them really surrendering to the agents a good geniune list of b**tards whom are responsible for the haze.

relying the indons on the list is simply TKK . . . . whatever comes from them is BS!

sigh, there are just too many mickey mouse authorities there whom kept approving license thru' under table administrations . . .

revoking hundreds might replaced by thousands . . . .sigh . . .

Ppl must realise the forest fires are still raging. Being so happy just becoz of a day or two of blue sky doesn't mean problem of haze is gone. Reading the news this morning on Indonesia accepting Sgp's help is not a good sign. It means they have problem coping. The Indonesians themselves are requesting more manpower from their own arm forces.

But I'm glad to see they are those(Singaporeans) who are selfless and trying to help ppl in Kalimantan who cannot afford to buy N95 mask. Their air quality at ground zero is pushing PSI2000 daily. https://www.facebook.com/letshelpkalimantan

There are also lots of poor Singaporeans here who cannot afford masks. I gave a few to the old wheelchair bound uncle in the TPY wet market who sells newspapers. Guy has to sit out in the open for hours every day.

You have done a good deed. [thumbsup]

But compared to those who are exposed to PSI2000 daily with no mask, no aircon, no air purifier....there's no comparison.

NTUC FairPrice, Sheng Siong, Prime Supermarket remove all Asia Pulp & Paper Group products from stores

SINGAPORE - Supermarket chains NTUC FairPrice, Sheng Siong and Prime Supermarket are removing all Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP) products from their shelves.

The Dairy Farm group, which operates chains such as Guardian, 7-Eleven, Cold Storage and Giant, has also stopped replenishing APP stock. It will continue to sell existing items till they run out.

The actions come after the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) temporarily suspended the APP's exclusive distributor Universal Sovereign Trading's use of their green label pending further investigations.

The moves also come shortly after FairPrice and 16 other firms were asked by the SEC to sign a declaration form stating that they did not carry products from the five companies being investigated for their possible connection to the forest fires in Indonesia.

On Wednesday, the SEC sent the same form to Prime, Dairy Farm, Sheng Siong, Ikea, Unity Pharmacy and Watsons.

FairPrice carries 14 housebrand paper products. Of these, two are sourced from APP through Universal Sovereign. The rest of the products remain unaffected.

The chain also carries 16 other APP related products from various brands - including Paseo, NICE and Jolly. All these items were pulled off the shelves at its over 290 outlets, including Cheers convenience stores, by 5pm on Wednesday.

Late last month, the National Environment Agency (NEA) began legal action against Singapore-listed APP and four Indonesian firms that it believes to be behind the burning.

FairPrice was the first to make the announcement on Wednesday morning, followed by the others later in the day.

Mr Seah Kian Peng, NTUC FairPrice's executive director, said that FairPrice has been proactively monitoring the situation over the past week.

"As a fair business partner, we reserved taking action pending further information and investigation by the authorities," he said. "Our decision to withdraw all APP products is a result of the temporary restriction of their Green Label certification."
