They Shld bring in the 1litre variant which is in Cat A to bring down the price, sure got buyers bite.

The 1.5l will be a hard sell n perhaps only the die hards will bite.

Well, a 1.5turbo is not commonly seen in SG cars thus competitors should be minimal. 1.4turbo have though. So in terms of juice its one of its kind.... I guess those whom got $$ and like civics would consider it.

You have a point but I'm more looking from $ point of view.

As some guys have posted earlier 1.5l turbo but price in 2l category, already turn them off as they rather buy a bigger cc car with the perception of it being a class up. That said, I'm aware the Honda fans will say but it's a turbo Honda with high hp, never ending argument!

Anyway to balance up, bringing in the 1litre version would balance things up to cater for lower budget buyers whilst the 1.5l cater to the die hards.

A concern is that for a IL3, 1.0, which typically churns 65-70ps, to be boosted to 127ps/170nm, will require pretty heavy squeezing.   Not sure how that will workout  in terms of reliability.  If they do a more conservative 100ps/150nm, it'll be underpowered.

Or maybe do it like the fiesta, 100ps/170nm.  But still quite a compromise.

me old school ... no replacement for displacement ...

I think for our regular 1.2 ton sedan / hatch ... minimum 1.4 turbo lah ...

Finally, Thailand has reviewed the specification of the 10th Gen Civic.

1.5L turbo engine same as USA spec and 1.8L 9th Gen engine to bring over to 10th Gen

As such, the 1.5L turbo with 174bhp and 220nm will be best for SG market soon.

I believe already in Thailand Honda website with thai language

its directly competitor is Levorg 1.6T 168bhp and Sylphy 1.6T 188bhp

but Civic 1.5T 174bhp, price all at 120k+ now

Sylphy 1.6t is not a competitor. It's been launched for 1.5 years already but how many have you spotted on the roads? No sale means not a competitor. Sylphy is different breed compare to civic and Levorg. Sylphy Engine output is highest but features wise, the other two seem newer and better.

So the civic seems to have no jap competitor. Levorg is station wagon which is a diff class, I think appeal to diff segment.

Oh, now I think about it. Maybe with more 1.6 turbo jap cars coming like civic and Levorg, this category might suddenly become of interest to car buyers. So people start relooking at sylphy again. Tan chong need to price it better. But the model is already obsolete as there is already a facelift in US. Maybe we have turbo Mazda 3 and altis soon?

Foot press parking brake, many cars already used

my 9yrs old basic latio already has it.. i love foot brake vs hand brake...... just like i already dont have to take out my key fobs for so many years, just press a button on door handle... i notice some new car use this as selling point.. amazingly slow... [laugh]

130k+ /1.5T 158bhp, still think civic is better option if price Is acceptable

so what is your acceptable level? as long it falls into cat-b level, it's hard to swallow knowing KM always price their model extremely high... IMO it has to be in cat-A level and "ok" to be the most expensive cat-A (1-2k more..) against the rest of it's rival but the moment it steps into cat-b, it is a long shot.... [:p]

hmmm.. there's no foot parking brake either. Just found out it uses Electronic Parking Brakes which are buttons placed beside the gear lever.

That sucks big time !

Foot parking brakes will be a thing of the past then..
